American Idol, May 13 - Kris Allen and Adam Lambert Are the Final Two!

After a record setting 88 million votes and with only 1 million votes separating the top two contestants, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert will battle it out in the American Idol finale next week. Tonight's hour long episode included appearances by Season 6 winner, Jordin Sparks who performed her new song Battlefield written by One Republic. Katy Perry also performed her latest hit Waking Up in Vegas. The most interesting part of Katy's performance was her wonder woman style outfit complete with a white silk cape with Adam Lambert's name on it.

The highlight performance of the night was Noah a young boy from Rwanda who sang R. Kelly's I'm the Worlds Greatest. The adorable preteen captured this audience with his beautiful smile and great stage presence. The most amazing part of his performance was that he just learned how to speak English a week ago. Alicia Keyes introduced Noah tonight as part of Idol Gives Back in Rwanda.

Tonight's show also featured footage from the final three contestant's home visits. Danny was greeted by thousands of screaming fans in Milwaukee including his number one fan and fellow Idol contestant, Jamar, who made it to Hollywood week. Kris received a warm welcome in his hometown of Conway, Arkansas with many mini Idol fans screaming his name. The footage included a very touching embrace between Kris and his father. Adam also received a celebrity welcome in San Diego and he visited his performing arts school and his former high school. An over zealous female fan attempted to take off her top on the high school field and was subdued by security guards.

The judges have be calling Adam the front runner all season. It felt like every week they were telling Adam and the millions of viewers watching from their living room couches that Adam would be in the finals, deserved to be in the finals, is the best contestant ever and so on and so on. This may work to Adam's advantage or it could back fire. Kris has been a dark horse throughout the competition and has been in the bottom three on a few occasions. His performance of Kanye West's Heartless last night was the best of the night and may have been what gave him the edge over Danny. When asked about next week's show, Simon said, "This could be what we call a big ding dong." Not really sure what that means. However, this is for certain, Danny will be a star. Remember Chris Daughtry, he also finished third.
