And, then there were three. After a record 64,000,000 million votes, the highest number outside of a finale, Kris, Danny and Adam are moving on to the semi-final round. Kris was the first contestant to learn he was safe and shortly after Adam followed him to the top three seats. With Allison and Danny left on stage, 17 year old Allison Ireheta was eliminated from the competition. Several online Idol sites, including Twitter, predicted that Danny was going home tonight. Many disappointed Idol viewers thought Allison's bluesy rock style and unique vocals would easily carry her into the final round. It is safe to say that this year's American Idol will be guy. But will be the hard rocking and edgy Adam, the soft spoken pop singer Kris or the powerful gospel singer Danny. Next week, the contestants will sing a judge's choice song and a song of their choice. Choosing the right individual song is critical for the top three contestants, especially since all three of them have been criticized by the judges for choosing the wrong song in past weeks.

Tonight's show was jammed packed with live performances. Allison, Kris, Danny and Adam opened the show performing Schools Out accompanied by Slash on guitar. Paula Abdul took the Idol stage for the first time and performed her new song, I'm Just Hear For The Music. Paula's dancing and choreography was incredible, but it appeared as if she was lip-syncing throughout the song. No Doubt featuring Gwen Stefani on vocals performed their smash hit, Just A Girl.

Chris Daughtry and his band performed No Surprise from their newly released record. After the performance, the other Kris presented Chris with a Quadruple Platinum Plaque in honor of his debut album. Daughtry's album is the first rock album to go quadruple platinum in music history.

Don't forget to tune in next Tuesday, May 12, at 8:00 PM EST on FOX when the top three contestants will perform two songs each. The grand finale is just a few weeks away.
