American Idol Predictions

American Idol predictions aren't easy to make. In fact, you have to always weigh what fans are going to think and their rationale for voting. If it came down to my opinion, which it doesn't, it would be an easy selection. My American Idol predictions are based on talent, star potential and my view of what America will think of the contestants. There are 16 contestants left on American Idol after the Wednesday night cut of four people.
We are inching closer and closer to the top 10! So what are my predictions for American Idol?

The judges seem to be pushing Lee Dewyze. They say things like his voice is over the top of the other contestants. I disagree. I think Lee Dewyze is strong but he keeps singing off key. Perhaps Lee Dewyze will grow into the role but I can't imagine America will pick him over some of the other contestants. Remember when you are making predictions that American Idol can be a bit of a popularity contest. Okay, it's definitely a popularity contest. Lee Dewyze isn't mainstream enough to win in my opinion. Will he make great records once he is done? I think there is a good shot at that but he probably won't win American Idol. Plus there is always some annoyance from America with the judges pushing someone too hard. The person who gets that, note David Archuleta and Adam Lambert, usually don't get the votes out of resentment or whatever.

Who do I like as my predictions for the American Idol top five?
I really like Siobhan Magnus. Who is Siobhan Magnus? She's the 19 year old from Cape Cod who hit such a high note that the judges nearly lost it. I think she's adorable and the American Idol fans won't be able to resist her charm. I think she'll charm her way into the top five and then popularity her way into the title. Siobhan has major potential with her pipes and unique look. There's something irresistibly charming about her and she has become one of the few I look forward to each week. My only question is will America jump on the Siobhan bus or leave it?

Crystal Bowersox is also an amazing performer. I can't imagine she will win the popular vote on American Idol. My predictions have Bowersox in the final four or five maybe. I think at some point she'll be up against some more popular contestants and that will hurt her. If raw talent won the competition then Crystal would be a lock for the top three.

Casey James is a bit of a sleeper. James has the looks and personality to keep him around for some time. I think James could move forward each week based on his opening performance of "Heaven". I think he'll keep getting votes as long as he has decent performances. His fan club is growing by the second.

I am also becoming a fan of Alex Lambert. The judges have made several comparisons to other rockers but I think the guy is Rod Stewart all over again. His tone in his voice makes me think he could belt out any Rod Stewart song to perfection. I enjoy listening to his tone and I hope America does, too. My predictions have him in the top five but I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow gets voted off earlier than that. It is American Idol and things don't always go as expected.

I also think Katelyn Epperly might be able to sneak her way into the final five. She's got the talent and looks. She may be young but I think her upside might be as bright as anyone in the competition.

What are my predictions for American Idol then? I would expect a final five of Magnus, Dewyze, Epperly, James and Lambert or another wild card entry. Michael Lynche might earn a trip with his bubbly personality. Paige Miles is also interesting and could go one way or the other.

My American Idol predictions don't have Tim Urban, Todrick Hall, Lacey Brown, or Katie Stevens in the final five.
I don't think any of those contestants will either get the popularity vote or have the talent to make that kind of run.
Crazier things have happened on American Idol.
