American Idol Results Show, March 11: Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez Headed Home

Breaking a new season record, 33 million voters decided that it was time for Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez to head home on the March 11 show. Also, the new voting rule that viewers were teased with last night was explained Wednesday night. Citing Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry and Michael Johns as examples, the new rule is that the judges will have one opportunity this season to save a contestant that receives the lowest number of votes. They have to be in unanimous agreement and they can save a contestant up until the Top 5. If they chose to save someone, no one will go home that week. However, two contestants will be voted off the following week.

The Top 13 opened the show with a group rendition of the Jackson Five's ABC. Typical of results show night, each contestant sang a few solo lines and the group stumbled through a clunky looking choreographed routine. Scott MacIntrye was most impressive during this routine even with his visual impairment. He worked the stage just like the others and his movements kept to the beat of the music.

Michael Sarver and Allison Ireheta were the first two contestants to hear the good news that they were safe. Jasmine Murray was asked to stand in the center of the stage as Matt Giraud and Kris Allen were told they were safe. Megan Corkery was asked to join Jasmine and Jasmine received the bad news that she was headed home and according to Ryan, "Unless the judges save you." Jasmine performed her song from last night, "I'll Be There" while the judges discussed whether or not to save her. Randy told her that she would be going home.

Scott MacIntyre, Alexis Grace, Danny Goeky, Adam Lambert and Lil Rounds were told they were safe leaving Anoop Desai and Jorge Nunez at the center of the stage. Jorge was told his journey was over unless the judges decide to save him. Once again, the judges discussed his performance as he sang "Never Can Say Goodbye." Simon delivered the news that Jorge was going home as well.

Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson performed live. Kanye sang his hit "Heartbreak" and Kelly sang her new song "My Life Would Suck Without You" from her new album that was released on Tuesday. The Top 13 is now the Top 11 and they will perform live next Tuesday, March 17, at 8 p.m. eastern time.
