Adam appropriately started off the night singing, " A Whole Lotta Love". Slash said that Adam has some pipes. Now this song isn't particularly a favorite of mine or a style I really enjoy, but it was perfect for Adam. I thought he delivered it very well and totally rocked the house! If he wants to be a rock star when he grows up then he is definitely pulling it off! Simon made a joke that the performance was a little understated. He also said it was one of his favorite performances Adam has done. Simon said nobody can top that. Randy told Adam that he was a rock start tonight. He is just a rock star waiting to happen. Paula said he was a "whole lotta perfect". Kara said he needs to make a 70's, 80's and 90's rock album.
Allison was up next singing, "Cry Baby". Slash commented that Allison has natural rock and roll mannerism and swagger. I thought she had an excellent performance. She is definitely a rocker! Randy said he didn't love the song choice for her, and that it wasn't that great for him. Kara said that Janis Joplin is right for her. She said that Allison transforms when she goes on stage. Paula called her "down right fearless". Simon said it is staggering on how far she has come in 8 weeks. Tonight's performance she had complete confidence and terrific vocals. He also said he didn't see much originality. She sounded too much like the real thing.
The first duet of the night was Kris and Danny singing, "Renegade". I thought they did an excellent job! I just enjoy watching Kris sing, and Danny has that sexy raspy voice. They made a terrific combo! Randy said he liked the harmony. Kara said it was united and strong. Paula said it was powerful and compelling. Simon of course had to be subtle and told Kris that Danny did better then him.
Kris was up next for his solo performance. He chose, "Come Together" by the Beatles. He brought out his guitar for this one. I thought it was great song choice for him. I don't think Kris will have a problem pursuing his singing career! He is awesome! Randy said that Kris picked a song where he could still be himself. He liked how Kris rocked out on the guitar. Kara said he was the softer side of rock. She also said it wasn't great, and that he is trying to hard. He is more than what he delivered tonight. Paula said it was an artistic delivery and that his signature was all over it. Simon said he didn't like it that much. He said it was like eating ice for lunch?! He said it was quite boring.
Danny ended the solo performances singing Aerosmiths "Dream On". Tonight we saw the rocker side of Danny. I must say, he had a very interesting screaming high note at the end! I thought he did a good job, but unfortunately not a favorite performance of mine. Randy said it was alright for him and that he gives Danny a A+ for effort. Kara thinks he took their previous comments too far. She did see edge and growth in his performance. Paula said she doesn't know if that was the right song for him, but that she is a Danny fan. Simon said the last note was like watching a horror movie. It was over the top. Even having said that Simon said that he thinks Danny will still be safe tonight.
The last duet of the evening was the rock duo Adam and Allison. I was kind of hoping for a rock ballad for them, but was totally expecting a total rock out performance, which they did deliver! Their song choice was "Slow Ride". I thought it was an awesome performance. Randy said they need to do a duet on their albums. Kara said this is when a duet is right. They were pushing each other to do better. Paula said it was perfect blend and that they were in sync with each other. Simon they win the battle of the duets that night. He also made the comment that it may have given Allison a chance to stay in.
On tomorrow night's show we will get to hear Chris Daughtry and American Idol's very own Paula Abdul will take the stage!
