American Idol Review for Wednesday, February 25th

Juliegirl
Wednesday night's American Idol show had a mixture of good singers, great singers and even had some comedy thrown in! This review will detail my opinion of each contestant's performance and the overall success of the night.

First up was Jasmine Murray. I thought she had an okay performance, but not a blow out performance. I think it is highly unlikely she will make it thru to the next round. With the way they are choosing the top 12 it makes competition even tougher and there is no room for error. Simon was rude as usual by his comment that she didn't have a good voice. I think Simon is wrong. Her voice is good the song choice was not.

Now Matt Giraud was a hit in Hollywood but not so much tonight. He is an awesome piano player, but his voice didn't match his piano skills. He may a have chance but only if the voters think back to Hollywood week and not base their voting on tonight's performance.

Jeanine Vaills joined Jasmine Murray in picking a wrong song. I wasn't impressed and don't see her furthering in this competition.

I am not sure what to think about Nick Mitchell a.k.a. Norman Gentle. I like him yet I don't see him fitting in this competition. I really think to realistically have a chance he will need to retire Norman Gentle in this competition. Now America could prove me wrong. The crowd did seem to love him. He is an excellent singer, just the way he presents it offsets the great voice. Although he does bring something different to American Idol that the show has never had and that element could get him thru. We shall see!

Allison Irahata by far was the best performer tonight. I see her making the top 12 no questions asked. Several past American Idol contestants have chosen that song but even with that her delivery of Alone was unique and she made it all her own. She received awesome reviews from all 4 judges. Paula said she was seasoned and Simon said she is the one to watch. I have to agree!

Kris Allen is a contestant that we haven't really heard much about. He did pretty well in Hollywood but tonight's wrong song choice and pitchiness may prove to toss him out of this competition. I have to disagree with Paula. I do not think he nailed it.

Megan Joy definitely has a unique quality in her voice and given that edge just might put her thru. I don't see her getting the most female votes but she might could pull off getting the next highest votes after the male and female.

Matt Breitke. Now I like Matt. I have liked him from day one. I am just afraid his performance tonight was not up to par and I just do not see him making it any further.

Jesse Langseth joins Megan Joy with a very unique quality in her voice. She stands a good chance of making it. I see her making it American Idol or not.

Kai Kalama is a cute guy with interesting hair! He has a strong voice but I am just not sure if it is unique enough to make it thru. Simon said that Kai's performance was corny. He's so rude.

Mishavonna was given a second chance at Idol seeing she didn't make it last year, but based on tonight's performance I think her Idol stint may be coming to a close. She is a good singer, just not sure she is good enough. The other female contestants have raised the bar and I am not convinced that Mishavonna can reach it.

Adam Lambert was the last performer of the night. Something about him, perhaps his look and style, remind me of David Cook. Although his singing really does not. Adam was the best male performer in my opinion tonight. I see him going thru and making the top 12. He had an awesome high note there at the end. Paula said he is in a league of his own and Simon used the words "excruciating" and "brilliant" to describe him.

Overall the best performances of the night go to Allison Irahata and Adam Lambert. I pick them to have the highest male and female votes and perhaps Jesse or Megan will get the next highest vote. Those are my picks to make it to the top 12.
