'American Idol' Season 10: The Official Top 24 is Revealed

It's the Final Countdown for the "AI" Top 24

Victoria Leigh Miller
Welcome to the 24.

Thursday night on "American Idol" the long-awaited Top 24 finalists were revealed. But don't get too excited- this list will be whittled down very quickly.

On Wednesday night we already got the news that Naima Adedapo, Clint Jun Gamboa, Haley Reinhart, Paul McDonald and Ashthon Jones made it into the Top 24.

That left 19 slots- slots that wouldn't be filled by ousted contestants like Hollie Cavanaugh and Chris Medina.

Judges Randy Jackson , Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler were back at the end of that long, scary hallway to deliver the news- both good and bad- to the remainder of the Top 40 contestants.

For some, like Karen Rodriguez- the news was good. J-Lo told the Myspace find, "You had me at 'If You Had My Love'." (a J-Lo song, BTW).

Ditto for crooner Robbie Rosen and Ta-Taynisa Wilson.

But there was bad news for John Wayne Schulz, Jackie Wilson and Taiwan Strong.

Tim Halprin may have taken an original song risk but it paid off- he made the Top 24.

And thank God he's a country boy. Scotty McCreery's deep voice took him further with a song that had nothing to do with "nuts of wonder." He told J-Lo he's one quarter Puerto Rican and that's where he gets his soul. Well hey soul sister, you made it to the Top 24.

Also on the list were the ultra-confident Jovanny Barreto as well as Lauren Turner and a feather-shoed Rachel Zevita (keep an eye on her).

Kendra Chantelle and Jordan Dorsey also made the cut, although Dorsey was called out for his group round antics against innocent victim Jacee Baudeaux.

Lauren Alaina- dressed as a glittery Barbie cowgirl- also got a green light as did Stefano Langone.

Jacob Lusk's emotional "God Bless the Child" garnered him Randy's stamp of approval (the best performance ever on "Idol"-and he should know).

Pia Toscano and James Durbin also sailed through. Casey Abrams came out with another big instrument and was so excited at his good news that he tossed the ominous chair aside. Trashing rooms already?

Finally, 15 year-old Thia Megia made it, rounding out the girls list.

All that was left was one boys' spot- and Brett Loewenstern earned it, sending fan fave Jaycee Badeaux home sweet home. But Badeaux is only 15 years old- expect to see him back next year.

I always watch but missed the last four shows because I was away. So happy to read what happened!

Great work, some good singers here!

  • Davida Chazan2/26/2011

HUGE mistake letting Wilson through while letting go of Jessica Cunningham. We have no girl rockers in the top 24 and Wilson tends to sing off key.
