American Idol Season 7 - What Needs to Change

What is it Going to Take for American Idol to Be Idolized Again?

Do you have what it takes to be the next American Idol? With Season 7 auditions currently underway, the American Idol judges and crew have hit the road to find the next American Sweetheart, or so they say. What is it they are really looking for ? The next best vocalist or the next best talent who will bring them best ratings? A lot of things need to change before it's the best show it can be, maybe you can change it!

I have always watched American Idol and felt that the first few years for the most part have been fair on who they have chosen to send through to the next round.

But ever since they sent home Chris Daughtry who I felt should have been the American Idol for season 5, I've been a little disgusted. There were a lot of great acts that year including Taylor Hicks, whom America voted to be American Idol, he's great yes he is, but is it really what we America is looking for? Taylor can sing any song and bring it to life, but how original is he? He's a copy cat of every crooning blues artist out there. How many albums has he sold? He's not even on radio anymore is he? Raw individualized talent, is what Chris Daughtry brought to the stage and I was saddened when he was sent home. Daughtry is still on the top 40 and has sold out concerts nationwide, and he's hot!

The mockery last season was just atrocious, especially as Sanjayah played it out almost to the end, and I think it was done only to keep the ratings up. It was crazy! That goofy looking kid had no talent whatsoever. A cream puff has more talent then him! What really took the cake was the Mohawk he sported in one episode, people ate that up. Oh well lets not forget his little groupie in the audience who was always in tears for him, please, he milked that one until the end too. He did entertain the audience but he sure as hell couldn't sing. But boy did it bump up the ratings.

Now for the season 6 finale, I wanted Blake Lewis to win, hands down, he had the most original and unique talent ever brought to that stage! Maybe because he was different that's the reason America's vote didn't want to take the chance on him. Jordin was just a smiling white toothed Karaoke queen. But that's behind us and I wish them both the best!

So with all of the drama behind us, what about season 7? Do you think they could put all the antics and comedy to the side and give it all to Jerry Springer's Americas Got Talent? The freaks and geeks belong on that show not on American Idol.

Yes it is hard to sit back and watch your favorite singer go home because the judges just don't think they have what it takes.

I feel they need different judges behind the table for next year's show, otherwise American Idol is going to always be the same Cabaret (as Simon would say) Pollyannaish crap that they have every year, no one new and different will stand a chance. So sad. But I'm sure they will all be back so we just have to deal with it the best we can.

I definitely think they should keep Ryan Seacrest, he is what makes American Idol what it is today, he is as American and sweet as Apple pie!

Paula, if she stays on needs to actually perform on one of the shows, she's an awesome choreographer, signer and dancer. I'm disappointed year after year when she doesn't show off her talents. Her downfall is she is too nice to the contestants.

Randy, has had a lot of experience with different bands and singers but he is so biased. He's not open to anything different other than what he's clearly looking for.

Simon brings the reality to the judges table. He's brutally honest and that's a good thing. But he makes a lot of money sitting there for doing hardly nothing.

All in all despite the quirks and controversies we will still tune in and fight over who will be the next American Idol. So maybe it will better for 2008? Only time will tell.
