American Idol Season Ten Shockingly Rocked it Down to Eight on Result Show
American Idol's Result Show April 7th 2011, Pia Toscano Voted Off
Will.I.Am, from the group, Black Eyed Peas, was the backstage mentor on the performance show the previous night. The American Idol season ten contestant's song selections were as follows:
Casey Abrams, the bearded contestant who was kept in the contest by the judge's save two weeks ago, played his standing bass while he sang, "Have You Seen The Rain," by Creedance Clearwater. He performed an energetic infused song and was called sexy by Steven Tyler, a Hall of Fame inductee and American Idol judge.
Hailey Reinhart sang, "Piece Of My Heart," by Janis Joplin, using her creative raspy voice.
Jacob Lusk, the gospel powerhouse sang, "Man In The Mirror," by Michael Jackson. He shared a duet with Siedah Garret, who wrote the song.
James Durbin, usually a loud rocker chose a sensitive emotional song, "While My Guitar Weeps," by the Beatles. This song selection was especially touching because James happens to be diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, (high functioning Autism) and, Tourettes Syndrome (uncontrolled physical and vocal movements.) While James uses his gifted voice his symptoms subside.
Lauren Alaina sang Aretha Franklin's, "Natural Woman."
Paul McDonald released his inner Johnny Cash with his song selection, "Folsom Prison Blues."
Pia Toscano, a fan favorite, selected her first up-tempo song, "River Deep, Mountain High. Pia usually sings dramatic ballads. The three judges, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson were pleased to see Pia finally listened to their advice and sang an up-tempo song.
Scotty McCreery, a steady bass country singer sang, "That's All Right," By Elvis.
Stefano Langone sang the soulful, "When A Man Loves A woman," by Percy Sledge, connecting to the audience and keeping his eyes open.
Tonight's American Idol season ten result show started with a rock medley performed by the nine contestants. Joan Jett's, "I Love Rock and Roll," Joe Cocker's, "The Letter," and, Lynyrd Skynyrd's, "Sweet Home Alabama." Of course American Idol revealed the latest Ford Focus commercial the nine American Idol contestants filmed. They also showed videos of Russell Brand offering his British comedic advice on music and stage performance to the contestants, Gwen Stefani stopping by and offering styling advice, and TMZ giving advice and commentary to the American Idol contestants.
Ryan Seacrest announced it might be a shocking vote result show. Casey, Stefano and Lauren were the first contestants up to hear their vote results. Stefano Langone was the first one voted into the bottom three while Casey and Lauren were declared safe.
Constantine Maroulis, a contestant from American Idol season four, sang his rock version of, "Unchained Melody." Constantine also appeared on Broadway in, "Rock of Ages,' and appears in the traveling version of the musical. Iggy Pops did a guest appearance also, appearing shirtless on stage to sing, "Real Wild Child," with censor beeps.
Paul, Pia and Scotty were next up to hear their vote results. Paul and Scotty were declared safe while Pia was shockingly informed she's in the bottom three for the first time.
James, Haley and Jacob were the last to hear their vote results. James and Haley were declared safe, while Jacob joined the bottom three.
It was shocking to find Stefano Langone, Pia Toscano and Jacob Lusk named as the bottom three because Pia was rumored to be a fan favorite to win, and Jacob has always been a charismatic singer with judge praise. The American Idol Contestant with the lowest amount of votes and announced to leave is Pia Toscano, definitely shocking results. All three judges couldn't believe the results and were upset. Are fans not voting believing their favorites are safe? You have to vote.

Post a CommentNicely Written, thank you
I couldn't believe it! But, then again, when you get down to the finalists, there are always going to be shockers and only one can win. cheers :)
Yes Claire, I think that people didn't vote for Pia because they thought she was a sure in. I felt so bad for her. I'm hoping that this will escalate her career far beyond her wildest dreams.
To each his (or her) own.
