American Idol Top 12 Results Show Bids Farewell to Its First Elimination of Sweet Lacey Brown

Judges Save is Back, Ford Commercial, & David Cook Salutes the Rolling Stones with 'Jumpin' Jack Flash'

Now we are in full gear with Season 9's first elimination of the finals. We get highlights of the Top 12 from the auditions, as if we haven't seen that time and time again.....to Tuesday night's performances. Ryan introduced for the second time in American Idol history the "Judges Save." This is when a finalist is eliminated but can be saved by the judges, provided they are all in agreement. Also, this save can be used one time only. Matt Giraud from Season 8, who performed last week during the last semi-final results show, was the finalist who received the judges' save. American Idol welcomed back Season 7 winner, David Cook, to the stage for his salute to the Rolling Stones by singing his cover of "Jumpin' Jack Flash." It was so weird to finally hear what the actual lyrics are of the song. The original version by Mick Jagger is so hard to understand. David Cook is working on his second album he is so very proud of and excited to release. He is going to Africa for the United Nations Foundation.

It wouldn't be a results show without the Ford commercials presented by the Top 12 finalists. They are back once again in Season 9. This time there was a little twist. You got to see an additional film clip of the finalists working on their own exterior designs on Ford car models. One of my favorites was by Tim Urban. It really looked awesome. Now it was time to pare down who was safe and who would be in the dreaded Bottom 3. The back row would be the first to learn of their fates. Paige Miles was the first to be called on and sent to the stools for the Bottom 3. Lee Dewyze, Siobhan Magnus, and Aaron Kelly were deemed safe for another week. The two left standing were Andrew Garcia and Tim Urban. Andrew Garcia was safe, and Tim Urban sent to sit along with Paige at the Bottom 3 stools.

Ryan introduced the next musical guest star, Orianthi, singing her latest hit single "According to You." She has been named one of the 12 Greatest Female Electric Guitarists. Orianthi has played alongside with legendary guitarists such as Carlos Santana and Prince. After her performance on American Idol Ryan asked her about meeting Michael Jackson and being his guitarist for the This Is It comeback tour. She said it was amazing, and her hands were sweating. It was great to see Orianthi on the show. Back to business with the results as Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox, Katie Stevens, and Michael Lynche were safe and sound for another week. Casey James and Lacey Borwn were the two left standing. Casey James remained safe while Lacey joined up with Paige Miles and Tim Urban. All three were asked to come center stage as one would be safe. Ryan called out Tim Urban, so Paige and Lacey were now the Bottom 2.

Before we learned who was possibly going home there was one more musical guest to perform. Ke$ha sang some song, and there are literally no words I have for this....whatever music artist she is. I do have a lot of words actually to say about that performance, but I'll just leave it to the imagination. Back to Lacey and Paige when Ryan announced Lacey Brown as leaving us. She got her choice of a singout, which was "The Story" by Brandi Carlile. During her singout the judges deliberated. Lacey gave a very heartfelt and emotional performance. Why is it they always do so much better on their singouts than the night before? Sadly, Lacey was not saved by the judges and now there is the Top 11. Unfortunately we did not learn what next week's theme will be. Anything should be an improvement over the Rolling Stones week..

This is a nice review. I think Crystal is about the best singer so far. But I also like Siobhan and the big-built guy whose wife just had a baby (sorry, don't remember his name). Good article.

Too bad that Lacey Brown got the boot last night. She is extremely talented. Can't wait for her to record. Will so buy her records along with those of Didi Benami, Crystal Bowersox and Michael Lynche. All have unique voices and enormous talent. Some of the others should not even be in this competition.

I agree, listening to David is a pleasure and I love the way he annunciates the words. Being 50% deaf, I can't tell you how many songs I know the jist of but don't know the lyrics because no matter how hard i try I cannot hear the words! Nice review
