American Idol Top 13: I Love Adam Lambert

Ok, I'm an Adam Groupie.

Tonight on American Idol contestants had some great performances and some not so great. Revisiting the works of Michael Jackson, it is difficult to top the King of Pop. Yes, he is easy to make fun of amid all his quirks, but it is clear that Michael Jackson has (or at least had-does he still have it?) great singing ability and stage presence.

Having said that, once again, Megan Joy Corkrey's performance of "Rockin' Robin" was absolutely atrocious. She simply cannot sing at all.

Vote for the Worst has nominated her, in fact, so it seems we're in agreement. Jasmine Murray was mediocre with her boring rendition of "I'll Be There" and Anoop got ripped for choosing "Beat It."

Danny Gorky did a great rendition of PYT (Pretty Young Thing) but got criticized for his dance moves by Simon. Likewise, Michael Sarver did a good, solid job with "You Are Not Alone" and will likely be around next week because he's a likable guy.

Scott MacIntyre was solid-ok, he's good on piano, but his song choice "Keep the Faith" had some dreadful, clichéd lyrics. Ugh. Kris Allen was fairly forgettable, as was Jorge Nunez.

Though Allison Iraheta rocked it out of the park with her version of "Give In To Me." For a 16 year old, she has incredible stage presence and maturity-in fact it is easy to forget she's just 16.

But the absolute winner of the night, and can I just say he is lovely to look at-is by far, Adam Lambert. Not only is he a pro who has been doing this for many years, his version of "Black and White" was just phenomenal. It ranks beside the original. So having said that, I just think Adam is such a cutie pie. He has the whole Mick Jagger/ Freddie Mercury thing going on (and that's quite the compliment considering Mercury could sing opera). I think he will be around for a long while. I just adore Adam. Have I made that clear?

Following Adam, Matt Giraud stepped in with a good (but not great) performance of "Human Nature." He might have come across better had he not followed Adam. And Alexis Grace closed the night with a good version of "Dirty Diana." She and Allison are by far the best girls. I would rank Alexis a notch below Allison, but she is still quite good.

Lil Rounds started the night with "The Way You Make Me Feel," and she did a good, solid job, but it pales compared to the original. The thing about Lil is that she has a good voice, but it isn't particularly memorable.

My bet is that the finals will come down to Adam and Danny. I wish Megan would get lost, but given that she's so bad, she's likely to stick around a while.

Until next time, folks.

Adam and Danny are really great--Adam is better at stage presence than Danny, but they both have the voices. I can't sing (very well) and I could have sung Megan's song easily, and that's not saying much. I agree they were hard on Anoop Dog, but I would put him in the middle. Megan was the worst and Jasmine was boring. They're just there because they're both pretty.

Jessica, it's right there with you, girl. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Adam Lambert is the next American Idol, whether he wins this thing or not. Danny Gokey did a pretty decent job. I think they were way too hard on Anoop Dog. And that godawful Megan simply sucked. What killed me was they gave her mad props. Lil Rounds oversang her song as well and they gave her mad props. She was good, just not that good. But Megan Corkrey should be sent home, period.
