American Idol Top 24 Revealed Tonight, Season Nine is Here
The Ninth Season of American Idol Has Its Final Pre-Season Episode Tonight on Fox
It seems that each year Idol figures out a new way to drag out the drama, and hopefully that doesn't carry over into the season. The Wednesday night episode will mark the final episode in the preliminary stages of American Idol, and after this one we go to the live voting shows. Most fans probably feel that it's about time we got there.
There have been a few changes to American Idol this season, and it began with guest judges sitting in during the audition phase. When Paula Abdul couldn't come to terms on a new contract, it left American Idol trying to find a new judge, and rather than rush the process, they invited music stars to sit in as the fourth judge with Kara, Simon and Randy during the first seven episodes.
After the auditions had been held, Ellen DeGeneres was hired on as the official new judge to replace Paula Abdul, and she came on in time to serve as the fourth judge during the Hollywood week episodes. This allowed her to be a big part of the decision process for which singers would advance to the Top 24.
Hollywood week ended up being more like two Hollywood weeks, as they had two episodes last week, and then two episodes this week as things were whittled down to the final contestants. On Tuesday night Idol released the names of seven of the Top 24, and that caused viewers to have the need to tune in to the episode. Now they have to tune in on Wednesday night to find out who the other 17 finalists are going to be, and there are sure to be a few surprises in the mix.
Wednesday's episode is one hour long, and will begin at 9:00 p.m. PST and EST, and will be the big news of the entertainment world as we head into the weekend. The next American Idol is going to be one of these Top 24 contestants, and the fans are finally going to get their shot at selection. Now it's our turn to take over as judge and jury for these 24 contestants looking to take the music world by storm.
