American Idol Top 24-Which Girls Will Survive the First Cut?

Frontrunners and Dark Horses Jockey for 10 Spots

The American Idol Hollywood shows are over and the Top 24 has been chosen. Next time we see the Idols, they'll be performing on the Top 12 shows. The girls will sing on Wednesday night. Some contestants will sail through to the next round, while others will watch their dreams brutally end. Which top 12 girls will make the cut? Here are my predictions.

Didi Benami-Her strong performances in Hollywood, including the Kara DioGuardi's "Terrified", should assure Didi a place in the Top 20. Didi's voice is lovely, and her venerability shines through when she sings. She's a favorite on some of the American Idol forums and should have strong appeal for fans of acoustic music.

Crystal Bowersox-There's a ton of internet chatter about "Mamasox" going around. Cyrstal is the only true rocker girl out of the Top 12 girls. No way is she going home this soon.

Katie Stevens-Kara told her she could win the entire thing during Hollywood, so look for the 16 year old to get good comments from the judges. If she doesn't let the pressure get to her she should make the next round.

Ashley Rodriguez-We didn't see that much of her in Hollywood, but we saw enough to know that she has some serious R&B pipes. Ashley should stand out among all of the indie/pop guitar-playing girls and have her own niche if she picks the right song.

Janell Wheeler-Janell is gorgeous and of all of the girls, she fits the "Taylor Swift "mold the best. She had some problems with her voice in Hollywood, but I think she'll be a favorite with the younger fans. Janell should make the Top 20.

Lacey Brown-After losing out to Megan Joy last season, Lacey is in the Top 24 this season. Her jazzy style is gorgeous, although a bit quiet. She'll have some competition with Lilly Scott and the other indie girls. If she picks the right song, she should survive the first week.

Lilly Scott-Lilly is quirky and different from your average Idol contestant. She exhibited some stunning singing abilities in Hollywood, but was inconsistent. Will Idol viewers be put off by her silver hair and boho style? Not enough to for her to be one of the first cuts.

Michelle Delamor-Michelle is a hard call. We've seen almost nothing of her, but she sounded fantastic in the group round. She's also gorgeous and very polished. She's a dark horse, but I think she'll survive.

Katelyn Epperly-The curly-haired teenager with the soulful voice will have to pick the right song to get through the first cut.

Haeley Vaughn-Adorable, bubbly Haeley had the misfortune to be the last girl chosen, right after sentimental fan favorite Angela Martin was cut. She's had a lot of screen time, but will it be enough?

Siobhan Magnus-We've seen little of her. Siobhan has a strong voice and an interesting style, but whether she survives or not depends her performance.

Paige Miles-Poor Paige has had zero face time to this point. She'll have to swing for the fences with her first performance or she'll be gone.

My prediction is two of Michelle, Katelyn, Haeley, Siobhan, and Paige being the first cuts, with Siobhan and Paige being the most likely.

Gee, you get paid to do this? And you say Katelyn, Siobhan and Michelle were in trouble on day one, while Lacey, Ashley and Janell were strong contenders? Perhaps you just had first day jitters, too.
