American Idol Top Ten Guys Night like Watching a Train Wreck

Another Night of Being Forgettable for the American Idol Guys

Mary Zeiher
American Idol had the Top Ten Boys last night and just like a train wreck, you didn't want to watch but you couldn't help yourself. After last weeks horrible demonstration on American Idol by the Top Twelve I was certainly hoping for a little less pain on the TV screen. But this group of American Idol Boys, sans one or two, is just agonizing to watch.

Admittedly the American Idol guys got thrown a curve ball when they found out that they had to perform a day early because of Crystal Bowersox's illness. But after this display of pure nerves and terror I don't think the extra twenty four hours really would have made a big difference for the American Idol Top Ten Boys.

If American Idol can do one thing right this week can they please send poor Alex Lambert home. Alex is so obviously terrified to be there that he simply can't perform. His version of "Everybody Knows" was certainly better than last week's performance, but he can't win American Idol. Send Alex Lambert home.

American Idol judges while you are sending people home can you please include Jermaine Sellers and Aaron Kelly? Aaron sang "My Girl" and it was just so karaoke it made me turn the channel for a while. Jermaine's "What's Going On" was a little better, but that is not saying much for this group of American Idol guys.

Who shined on American Idol last night? At the top of my list remains Lee Dewyze, my personal choice for the next American Idol. Even though he still has a confidence problem on stage, he is worlds better than any of the other American Idol guys. Lee's version of "Lips of an Angel" was very well done. The lighting on stage was excellent, it just felt more professional than any of the other American Idol performances.

Casey James and his blonde locks played the electric guitar and sang "I don't Wanna Be" in an attempt to be a rock star. I actually enjoyed his performance and found it to be a little fun. But as Kara reminded us this is a singing competition and he let the guitar do most of the work on the song.

The balance of the American Idol Top Ten Guys were just disappointing and forgettable. Andrew Garcia, Tim Urban, Michael Lynch and Todrick Hall all were just flat and this American Idol viewer was not entertained. This American Idol season makes me pine for Adam Lambert.
