American Idol Wednesday: Brandon Comes to the End of the Road

Mr. Anderson
Brandon Rogers's time with Idol came to an end on the weekly results show. Rogers's was very well liked and a great performer during the audition weeks but seemed to lose touch somewhere along the way. His performances seemed to lack something and sounded like he always had a cold when he sang. It's surprising he lasted as long as he did. Forgetting the words of the song in his last performance couldn't have helped much either.

Being in the bottom two didn't seem to surprise him too much. He stood on the stage beside Sanjaya Malakar, looking like he expected to be sent home. To the audience's surprise, Sanjaya was instructed to take a seat and survive yet another week as an American idol hopeful.

Diana Ross and Simon Cowell were both right about Sanjaya. They anticipated that America would keep Sanjaya around because he was original and there was something about him, even if his singing hasn't been perfect.

The show was live and only thirty minutes last night. It appeared that the minutes were not scheduled well because Brandon didn't even get to perform his last song before the credits rolled. Sadly enough several seconds would have been saved by not replaying the verbal duel fiasco from Tuesday night between Ryan and Simon. Apparently this is more important then allowing Brandon to sing his final song. It's not everyday you get to sing live to the country. This could very well have been his last opportunity to do so.

Brandon Rogers is a professional backup vocalist and was a finalist in the sixth season of American Idol. Rogers' mother is a published songwriter, so it runs in the family. He graduated from the University of North Texas. While attending UNT from 1996 to 1999 he was part of the UNT Jazz Singers and studied in the vocal jazz program.

Brandon's first big break came when he was part of a group called the Boys of Harmony. The group was put together as part of a joke audition by a radio show in Dallas. The idea behind the audition was to put together a boy band and see how they performed. When the group eventually broke up, Brandon moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career in music.

Brandon was a backup singer and performed for such stars as Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Anastacia. He has also been involved in voice coaching and wedding singing.

I don't think it would make a big enough difference, personally.

At the bar there was a rumor that people are purposely voting the better contestants off just to mess with the show. I wonder if this is the case or not.
