American Idol: Week 2 Results

Each season of "American Idol" is surrounded with rumors and conspiracy theories by fans over some issue involving their favorite Idol. This season the rumors have gotten off to an early start and include a member of the "American Idol" staff. The staffer claims that Idol judges and producers have already chosen their final four contestants - Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace, Lil Rounds, and Adam Lambert. According to this staffer Alexis and Danny are commercially viable, have a good image, and a great story; while Lil and Adam are very similar to former Idol alums. In Lil Rounds' case it is a similarity to season three winner Fantasia and for rocking Adam he's very much like fellow rocker Chris Daughtry whose debut album has topped the four million mark in sales.

Week two results meant much more to the Idol hopefuls than being able to stay around for another week since the top 10 Idol singers go on to be a part of the "American Idol" tour that takes place over the summer. Piano playing Idol contestant Scott MacIntyre said that going on the tour would be amazing; this from the same person who took his Master's degree at Cambridge in England.

Grand Ole Opry members Brad Paisley and Randy Travis were joined by season 4 winner Carrie Underwood. Along with being the newest member of the Opry Underwood has amassed nine number one hits on the country charts and has won some 40 music awards including three Grammy Awards. Underwood expressed a love for returning to the Idol stage and was flattered by current Idol contestants performing her songs - Danny and Matt.

Rumors of an "American Idol" finals conspiracy were dashed tonight as Allison Iraheta, Michael Sarver, and Alexis Grace were placed in the bottom three. Allison was given the safe call leaving Michael and Alexis as the bottom two. Ultimately the voters decision was held up as the judges chose not to save the chosen elimination on week 2 as Alexis Grace was eliminated from the competition. Just before her final performance Simon Cowell told Alexis that she was the person they were considering to save but it would all depend upon her performance; which was not good enough to save her.

Due to a Presidential Television appearance next week's "American Idol" will air the performance show on Wednesday with the results show on Thursday. The top 10 will be paying homage to the sounds of Motown.
