American Idol Will Lose More Viewers

Paula is the Heart of the Show

Denise
It is no secret that American Idol ratings has been in decline for some time. Now they are really hammering the nails in their coffin, by not keeping star Paula Abdul. No offense, but I have never heard of Kara Dioguardi before she came on the show last season. There are a few songwriters that I have never seen before, but, I have heard of them. Not so, with Dioguardi. I didn't like the song "No Boundaries" that she wrote for the winner. It had too many words, and was not written like the other singles for the past Idol winners.

It was hard to believe that a songwriter, such as herself could write "Rich Girl"(Gwen Stefani), "Love Story"(Katharine McPhee) and "I Do Not Hook Up"(Kelly Clarkson) then write a song like "No Boundaries". The fact that they are keeping Dioguardi tells me they really do not care about their ratings. On the website Popeater.com, last week, 53% of 90, 302 people are surprised that Paula Abdul is leaving. Out of 100, 167 people, 75% think Idol will be worse without Paula. I totally agree.

Now, I am hearing that she is in talks with American Idol to negotiate her deal. That is after Dancing With The Stars, and So You Think You Can Dance expressed interest in having her on their show. According to Parade Magazine on line, Dancing With The Stars wanted Paula on their show so bad, that it got the powers that be on Idol to do something about it. If you watched the other day, they announced who would be on Dancing With The Stars this season, and Paula was not a part of the show.

I personally would like her to be a choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance, If she has to go on another show. We've all seen her judge and if they could give her a deal that she'd be happy with, I think it would be cool to see her choreograph as well as judge occasionally. Anyway, if Idol really wants Paula Abdul back(and they better..) they are going to have to give her just as much as Ryan Seacrest. Paula trumps Ryan any day. Ryan is just a host on Idol, she has been in the entertainment business a very long time.

What may end up happening is that, she just may get her pay day that she deserves, but will only appear on the live shows. So, that would mean less time, but more money. Let's just wait and see what really does happen. I've been looking at comments on some websites about Idol and some people have expressed that they will not watch the show anymore if Paula truly leaves the show.

I mean, come on, you've got Simon the cruel one, Randy, the cool one, and Paula the one who shows more compassion. Oh, and Kara...uh. I really can't define her just yet. Anyway. Sometimes I wonder, though. Did they really have a problem negotiating with Paula, or are they trying to raise their declining ratings?
