The Right Attitude
Having a positive and balance attitude towards your goal is very important to help you achieve your dream. Having too much confidence will only disappoint you. If you think too highly of yourself, you are definitely heading for a fall before you even passed the auditions.
Humility
No matter how good you are, there is always someone in the world who is better than you. Some people may be better than you but they may also lack humility. It is better to have humility than to be a smart-ass who thinks he or she is better than anyone else in the competition. People who have too much confidence are actually hiding behind a veil that masks their insecurities. Being humble will take you further.
Yourself
It is very important to know and understand your capabilities and limitations as a performer. Never compare yourself to famous names like Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey, or Britney Spears, because these people are already established pop stars. If these pop stars have also succeeded because they have always been themselves and they never emulate another superstar. You will have to be original too, just as these stars are, and you have to come up with your own style. Talent scouts are looking for fresh and original artists so you have to be unique to catch their attention. If you sound like someone else, chances are, you will not stand out. If you lack confidence but still want to audition for X-Factor or American Idol, you can build up your confidence through a karaoke. A karaoke is something that allows you to get up and singing to a pre-recorded music track with lyrics that are embedded. The singer would sing along to the track, using the lyrics on the screen as a guide. It is a fun activity that allows people to sing in front of an assembled audience, often in public houses. It is a great musical recreation that allows you to practice your vocal technique as it builds up your confidence.
Although your looks contribute to your success, remember that it is not the main determinant of your success. Whether you are overweight, or you are wearing spectacles, or you have a bad hairstyle, what is important is that you are determined to succeed.
As long as you stay focused in developing a unique and original style for your vocal capability, you are on a good start. Again, never try to be someone else. Pick a song that you can relate with, and practice it again and again until you feel very comfortable with it. If you cannot reach the high and low notes on the song, then it is best that you find another song.
Once you have found the song that suits you best, you need to start thinking about your image.
Again, image must be original. It must reflect yourself and nobody else. Your individual style and dress code must never be over the top; remember that last is always more. Reaching the top will not be so difficult if you believe in yourself and follow these tips on your way to stardom.
