American Idol's David Hernandez Formerly a Stripper
Will it Affect His Chances at Becoming the Next American Idol?
We will have to wait and see for sure if the producers of American Idol will allow David Hernandez to continue to preform and remain a contestant. I don't see why in this case his past should have any bearing on his future with American Idol. Even if on his application to American Idol he didn't reveal that he was a former stripper, I doubt he actually lied about. I doubt he was actually asked the question: "Have you ever stripped before?" Although a former stripper might not be everyone's ideal American Idol, Hernandez didn't do anything illegal. Since his actions were not illegal I think he should be allowed to continue on American Idol.
This isn't the first time scandal has rocked American Idol. Almost every season there is at least one shocking revelation about one of the contestants. In 2003 it was Frenchie Davis. It was revealed that Davis had pictures on an adult website, she was dismissed from American Idol because of these pictures, and her failure to tell American Idol about these pictures. This was a big controversy, although her behavior might not have been fitting for an American Idol, she hadn't done anything illegal. Another scandal on American Idol that involved sex was Antonella Barba. When Barba became a finalist racy photos pf her appeared on the web. American Idol producers did nothing this time. Many people speculated that maybe the producers didn't respond because they knew she wouldn't last that long anyway. Barba was voted out soon after the photos were released.
So what does this mean for David Hernandez? I think even if the producers of American Idol allow him to continue, he will be facing a uphill battle. I think many of the voters might have a problem voting for someone that was not only a former stripper, but a former stripper and a gay club. Many of the voters for American Idol are tweens and teens, Hernandez's past as a stripper would most likely make him less of a heart throb to these young girls.
It's interesting that as soon as someone starts to become famous and enters the limelight, all kinds of things from their past come out. Hopefully for David Hernandez the voters will be able to look past his past. Only time will tell.

Post a CommentLike who cares if contestant David was a Stripper? What that has to do with anything Idol wise is beyond the beyond. If someone tries to pull the "not a good role model for teens" number, all I can say is if one of the Judges can sit up on the panel week after week fully "loaded" to the point of sometimes nodding out, then I think the teens can handle a Strip Dancer. He's handsome, he's fit, (how refreshing in this country of Over Weights & Burger mongers) and big deal, he gets naked.
There are real atrocities occurring all over the world, some in our own backyards. How about getting the dish on some of those? I wish this country would simply publish a paper dedicated to these boring Celebrity Dirt stories and keep them there. They should fine publishers and the media for every time they use important "news space" for such nonsense. But they could print them for FREE in that dedicated rag named YAWN.
