American Idol's Got Talent

Drew Bush
So far, this season of American Idol has been interesting. I have been happy with some of the contestant's performances and not so happy with others. After watching the competition for the last few weeks, I have already chosen my favorites. Here is my list of five favorite contestants (it is in no particular order):

1. Lee Dewyze

2. Casey James

3. Crystal Bowersox

4. Siobhan Magnus

5. Andrew Garcia

So far, this is my list of favorites. Also, I believe that these people have a very strong chance of making it to the top 5. So why are these my favorite contestants?

Lee Dewyze:

In the first couple of weeks of the competition, I felt little unsure of Lee Dewyze. While he had a great voice, he just didn't seem to have much of a personality. Also, he seemed to lack confidence. I must say, though, that things have changed this week (the week of March 29th). He now shows more confidence and his voice sounds better than ever. The only thing is that some people may think that he should smile more once in a while to at least show that he is happy.

Casey James:

I remember when I first say this guy during the audition period of American Idol. Of course, everyone remembers the scene where he took his shirt off and almost made Kara DioGuardi have a heart attack. At first, I thought that he was just another guy that was going to try to become famous on his good looks, but after hearing him sing and play the guitar the last few weeks, my opinion of him has changed drastically. Like Lee Dewyze, he has a very powerful voice which goes great with instrumentation.

Crystal Bowersox:

Crystal Bowersox has been quite consistent with her performances. How has she been consistent? She has been consistent with all her performances in that all of them have been great. I must say that I love her style of music and I can imagine her coming out with a record that I can listen to while driving through exotic lands. Her voice is so wonderful that sometimes I believe I have already heard it on the radio.

Siobhan Magnus:

I did not really notice Siobhan that much in the beginning of the competition, but once she belted out that voice of hers, I decided I could not miss any of her performances. She is quite the performer and she always seems to give it her all. What I like about her is that she is not afraid to do something different. As many people have already noticed, she is very unique (in a good way of course). If she is able to have a career in the future, I believe she may end up being the type who ends up reinventing herself every so often and tries something new.

Andrew Garcia:

Like many others, I liked what Andrew Garcia did with Paula Abdul's song Straight Up during Hollywood week. I loved how he put his own spin on the big 80's hit. After that hit performance that week, he did not perform as well in the first couple of weeks during the start of the competition. I knew he had a great voice, but like the judges, I wanted to see a performance like the one he did with Paula's song. I finally got my wish on Tuesday March 30. In addition to his great voice, the soft beat of the music with the guitar really made him shine on stage.

So there you have it, my current top 5 favorite American Idol contestants. Now, I believe that many others like Katie Stevens and Aaron Kelly have great potential as well. I guess I am just not as convinced with them yet. I guess we will just have to see what happens as time goes on.
