American Idol's Rock Week Results

It's a trip back home to be treated like the rock stars they portrayed on rock week with "American Idol". With only two weeks left until a new "American Idol" is crowned, the competition is close - close enough that each week record setting votes have been cast. In the decision of who will become the top three, over 64 million votes were counted for four contestants.

This week there was no bottom three announced, only who was safe until the end.

Rock Week the results kicked off with the mentor Slash joining the Idols for the group sing-a-long. The five rocked out to "School's Out" by Alice Cooper. Slash looked like gentleman of rock decked out in his top hat.

The contestants took a few moments to reflect on their performances, Danny said that when he watched a replay of his rendition of "Dream On" he laughed at his attempt to scream at the end of "Dream On". He added that with that scream he made a name for himself.

After seven plus season on "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul took the stage to perform her new single "I'm Just Here". Last season Abdul and Randy Jackson performed on "American Idol" via a video. A former Los Angeles Lakers dancer, Paula launched a solo career that sold over 53 million records.

The musical entertainment continued with a performance by No doubt. While the band is about to launch a new tour, they do not have a new album on the horizon.

Finally the first of the final three singers was announced - Kris Allen who will return to Conway, Arkansas during the next week.

Returning Idol Chris Daughtry hit the "American Idol" stage with his band. Daughtry debuted his new single "No Surprise" and played guitar - something he could not do when he was a contestant. In season five Chris Daughtry found himself in the final four only to be eliminated. Since then Chris Daughtry and his band sold over four million album - the fastest selling rock debut ablum in Sound Scan history. Once Chris finished singing, this season's Kris brought out a plaque denoting Daughtry's debut album has sold five million copies world wide. Daughtry hopes to repeat his success with his new album "Leave This town" due out in July.

The next Idol to be saved for a trip home was Idol rocker Adam Lambert leaving Allison Iraheta and Danny Gokey to await their fate. The results were announced this week were done randomly. The final three contestants for the semi finals will include Danny Gokey. Simon Cowell once told teen Allison Iraheta was the girl's only hope. After singing host Ryan Seacrest told Allison, "I know I'm going to be playing your music on the radio real soon."

Besides a trip home next week the Idols will have to perform two songs. There is no theme other than the singers get to pick a song and the judges will choose a song and the are notorious for choosing songs to push and challenge the singers.
