American Idol's Taylor Hicks Loses It!

22 Pounds that Is

Sara Martin
As I was getting my weekly fix of celebrity news, I spotted a thinner Taylor Hicks, winner of last season's American Idol. He still has those gray locks, but his chubby face has decreased in size. I think it is awesome that he has been able to shed those unwanted pounds and it makes me even more determined to get rid of my extra baggage. So how did Taylor lose it?

With further investigation, I found that all Taylor had to do was cut out the "soul food" of southern cooking, being from Alabama, and pass on those late night urges to hit McDonald's. Hicks tells reporters that he's cut fast food out of his diet all together. He has replaced his fattening foods with salads, fish, and chicken noodle soup, just to name a few. Plus, as everyone knows, Hicks has been on the road performing and that can help take the weight off too. He is currently promoting his album by going on a 53-city tour.

Taylor explains how performing under the hot lights and doing his oh so unique dance moves helps eliminate the fat as well. Besides dancing, Hicks has picked up running as a means of staying in shape. It sounds like he is liking his new body, dropping from 215 pounds to 193. He also ensures us that he does take a day off and enjoys some chocolate cake.

So, how can we shed those extra pounds like Taylor Hicks? I did a little research and here is what I have found. No, it isn't a miracle diet pill either! As we should know, and as Hicks has shown, healthy eating and an active lifestyle is the only way to shed those pounds and keep them off.

First of all, let's make sure we are eating the right amount of foods each day. Check out http://www.mypyramid.gov/, you can get personalized results that are easy to follow. Next, what about a healthy diet? http://www.caloriescount.com/ will show you how to eat right and eat the right portions. Plus, don't forget to find the right workout program that will fit your needs. I always recommend consulting a doctor before starting a workout program. If you are like myself, you might need some motivation, so here is a link to help you enjoy your newfound healthy lifestyle,

Congratulations to Taylor Hicks for shedding those 22 pounds and thank you for encouraging others to follow your groovy footsteps.

I found it an interesting article, aside from the diet advice coming in at the end. The new Weird Al song is about Taylor Hicks sort of...funny stuff.

It really angers me that so many of these people judge Taylor before REALLY giving him a chance. The Taylor you saw on Idol and the Taylor you see in concert are two COMPLETELY different people. I have now been to two of Taylor's concerts and he is PHENOMENAL! I last saw him about 3 weeks ago at the Ryman in Nashville - sporting his new "thin" look - he is as sexy as ever in my eyes! With or without the extra 25 pounds, that boy makes me melt!

I'm not a fan of Taylor Hicks. At all. He reminds me of a lounge singer, and not even a glorified one (sorry, Timothy). But I read an article in People magazine about it, similar to this one, and I am always proud of anyone who can make life changes like that.

Nice to see him lose weight but I am still not impressed with his singing. He is nothing more than glorified lounge singer. Those who did not win have more going on than he has. Chris, Katherine, Elliot, etc all are doing better than Taylor. He was not my choice for the winner. I still believe his talent is very average.

I'm glad he's shaping up. When I first read your title I thought, "Oh boy, first Britney and now Taylor." Great article.
