American Idol's Top Five for Season Nine

Siobhan is Gone

Karen LoBello
There will be no more screams let loose on this season's American Idol. Siobhan Magnus is on her way home. She received the fewest number of viewer votes this week on American Idol. Siobhan is edgy, strong and a distinct personality. She added a flare to the competition that will be missed. This is not an ending for Siobhan, by any means. It's the beginning. Her future should be full of excitement and opportunity. Siobhan gave it her all singing "Think" as her exit song. You have to give it to her...she stayed true to herself all the way.

The top five American Idols for season 9 are Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze, Casey James, Aaron Kelly and Mike Lynche. I believe that should be their finishing order as well.

A bevy of country artists graced the stage on the results' show, including Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum, Sons of Sylvia and Shakira. Why didn't the Idols' mentor, Shania Twain, sing? That's who I wanted to hear.

American Idol is always full of drama when it comes to these results' shows. This particular one was even more peculiar. Host Ryan Seacrest divided the six contestants into three pairs: Siobhan and Lee, Aaron and Crystal, and Casey and Mike. He asked Siobhan to walk over to join Casey and Mike and announced that they were the bottom three.

I assumed that Mike Lynche would be going home. Never assume anything on American Idol-especially at this point in the competition. Mike was the first of the trio to be deemed safe. He has a pleasing voice, but I feel Mike made the top five based more on his personality than his vocal talent.

I was glad Casey James wasn't the one to get the boot. I think he's just beginning to hit his stride on American Idol. I'm looking forward to his next move.

Aaron Kelly turned it around on Tuesday night as well singing Shania's "You've Got a Way"...otherwise he might have said goodbye instead of Siobhan. Aaron needs to find another song that is meaningful to him again next week.

Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze are holding strong. Since Crystal's country performance on Tuesday was considered 'so-so' by many, I predict she'll come out rocking the theater next week. Then again...it's going to be a Frank Sinatra theme. Hmmm...can the Idols please the judges and make it current? I'd say Harry Connick, Jr. has his work cut out for him.

Last night really shocked me, when I seen that Casey was in the bottom three. There's not too many remaining now.

Siobhan had such a fan base, perhaps explaining why she is topping searches today :) I think she'll have a singing career and her albums may do well.
