American League Central Predictions: Detroit Tigers

PITCHING: On paper they have always looked okay. Verlander, Bonderman, Nate Robertson, Galarraga, Willis and Tampa import Edwin Jackson...now toss in blood clots, tired arms, psychological problems and shoulder soreness and you have one elephant size question mark. Now consider the Closer position with Brendon Lyon coming in, Zumaya and Rodney saying they can close but haven't proven it with consistency and toss in rookie Porcello with Zach Miner and you should get an idea what Detroit's problems are.

HITTING: Sheffield released as I write this so DH is up for grabs. First base is anchored by a true All-Star in Miguel Cabrera whoseonly enemy is the good life and all the rich food that goes with it. Polanco at 2B has to work with new SS Everett while 3B has been given to the catcher's backup Brandon Inge. Gerald Laird takes over Catching duties. The Outfield has the dependable Mags Ordonez, Curtis Granderson covering center and Guillen roaming LF. The only adventure is Magglio's glovework. The real question here is ...can this group of Hitters put up runs to match what the Pitchers give away?

Prediction: I'm predicting a 3rd Place finish in a weak Division for WAY too much payroll. The only really true pickup has been Miguel Cabrera and the balance of the Free Agent money has been a waste.
