American Politics: The Left or Right?

Betty Malone

I'm Left of Right and Right of Center

Blue in the morning, Red in the evening

I'm Independent on the war

I'm Democratic when feeling sad

And Republican when I'm feeling mad

I'm Liberatarian at tax time

And a Liberal when my heart bleeds

Conservative when my purse does

I'm an American with Manifest Destiny

Seeking to keep my Moral Authority

A Citizen of the Global World

I'm a Red Neck in the summer time

And an East Coast Intellectual in the winter

I was a Soccer Mom, and now a Baby Boomer

I'm an Empty Nester, part of the Sandwich Generation

I'm one big Sound Bite made for the Polls

Pin us up, chalk us down, box us in and wrap us with a bow

We'll deliver the votes, We're part of the Base

Of baselessness

Ha! I guess we're all kind of two-sided, huh?

Oh this is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO on target. Sorry, I'm still behind on reading. Got five new meds with 3 antibiotics. Surely one of them will actually work this time around. But they do knock me for a loop so I'm still not up much. Thanks for your well wishes.

It's funny how our country seems to love labels. I don't think any of us truly fit the stereotypes that others like to clothe us in (close us in).
