Americans, Please Wake Up

Conscience
How do you think the presidential election will turn out? I know that there are some people out there who doesn't have any knowledge concerning who running. Most people wouldn't even care how it will turn out. The sad thing is that we tend to care more about entertainment than what's going on in the world or at least in our own country. I've been contemplating this election recently, and saying to myself, that I hope there will be many people paying close attention because it's going to be a race to remember because of all the diversity and gossip that's feeding into it. That is one of the many strategies that politicians heavily rely on. Also a lot of people tend not to vote but then start complaining about the negatives that are destroying our society. I know this has been said over and over, but it doesn't hurt to say it again, but people need to vote. You'll see more people voting for American Idol contestants or for a professional all-star game and there won't be a single vote miscounted either. But for important campaigns you'll notice how people have a tendency not to vote. People need to step up and vote and even though you think that your vote doesn't count because you're only voting for the Electoral College, trust me it does count. Just when you think everything is good right now, trust me it can get worse.

People also like to make excuses for not to vote. Like they won't be able to because they don't get off work in time to cast in their vote or simply just continuously procrastinate to the point where they don't even remeber to vote. Out of all of the presidential elections that we have had in the past I can safely say that this one will be interesting because we have a female candidate, african-american candidate, latino-american candidate and others. With just those few candidates this will be an election to remember and hopefully this time their will be more people to vote for the election than to have american idol votes surpass the election once again. It's your life and your vote. Get out and vote people and make the right choice this time because if we get anybody that's even similar to Bush, then don't complain about you'll just have to deal with the consequences for at least another four years and a potential eight years. You must be asking yourself, "How did Bush get re-elected?" because the same people voted for him and the others just procrastinated all the way up to the point to where they didn't vote at all and take note at how they are the first ones to complain about all of the flaws that the current president possesses. Also about how we need a new president.

My seventy year-old parents are not ever going to vote again, they are fed up, and believe that the elections are rigged. Also, my late great uncle Wallace, longtime Florida resident and painter, said the same thing before he died. He had also lost faith in the system. Why should I 'trust' you? Why should I continue to vote for the lesser of two evils? I'm sick of it. And don't tell me I have no right to bitch. I love this land dearly, and it just makes me sick what's happening to it. Maybe more people would vote if we had better candidates running. We need visionaries, not the same old status quo.
