America's Best Dance Crew - Season 4: Week 1

"So You Think You Can Dance" has crowned a new champion for season five and has begun the audition eliminations to determine who will get the chance to compete in the fall for the title of season six champion and the popular celebrity ballroom dance competition "Dancing with the Stars" have yet to begin. So, in the meantime dance fans can tune into MTV for season four of Randy Jackson (of American Idol fame) presents "America's Best Dance Crew".

What sets America's Best Dance Crew apart from other dance shows is that dance teams compete for the title and not just a single dancer or couple. Each week the crews must meet a particular challenge given to them by ABDC. After judges JC Chasez of N'Sync, hip-hop artist Lil Mama, and dance choreographer Shane Sparks, who has also choreographed dances for So You Think You Can Dance, have spoken, fans have the opportunity to vote for their favourite dance crew. On the premiere episode the judging panel chooses the first crew to be eliminated.

In just eight short weeks a new dance crew will join season one winners JabbaWockeeZ, season two winners Super Crew, and season three winners Quest Crew who counts as a member Hok an alumni of "So You Think You Can Dance" as America's Best Dance Crew and a $100,000 prize.

On the first night of competition nine dance crews took to the stage - Beat Your Feet Kings from Washington, DC, We Are Heroes from Los Angeles, AfroBorike from Las Vegas, Massive Monkeys from Seattle, Artistry in Motion from Hollywood, Southern Movement from Nashville, Rhythm City from the Bronx, Fr3sh from New Jersey, and Vogue Evolution from New York City - performing routines that showed off their style and strengths. In years past many of the dance crews were predominantly hip-hop and B-boys; but this season there is a variety of styles that include Latin, hick-hop (a mix of country and hip-hop), Vogue, and the usual hip-hop and B-boy styles.

The judges chose Beat Your Feet Kings, Southern Movement, and Fr3sh to compete in a sudden death dance off which would ultimately determine which crew would be eliminated. By the end of the evening New Jersey's Fr3sh found themselves as the first crew to be eliminated from the show.

Next week the remaining crews will take on the dance moves of Beyonce. While not confirming any such appearance host Mario Lopez hinted that the diva herself could possibly make an appearance on the show.
