America's Food is Pakistan's Poison

Democracy empowers people and saves them from the wraths of power. Empowerment and security of people secures the peace and prosperity of a nation. Peaceful nations tend to be at peace with each other and strive to be prosperous more than one another making, in turn, the world a peaceful and prosperous place to live. But, truly and at the same time paradoxically, a peaceful and prosperous world is an insensitive world. Howsoever, an insensitive world is safer world than an impulsive one.

Democracy is not a commodity for import and export. It is home grown system of governance, essentially a mindset and a way of life before it is a political order. With its pros and cons, the world has by far accepted democracy as the best political option of governance. The good part of this century will witness a democratic world order.

Strong institutions make democracy and democracy makes all individuals equal. Though equal to others but an individual can bring the government down in an institutionalized system. A system, bereft of institutions, promotes up tribalism and barbarism. An individual in such a chaotic social and political order can go to the extent of turning himself into a suicide bomber to shake the society and government up.

All said and done, democracy may be, by far, the most evolved political order, but is certainly not the only system suitable to all cultures and religions as the latter are older and more rooted than the noble concept of democracy. Retrospectively, as a nation Pakistan would have perhaps fared much better in absence of its so-called and half lived democracy. Most of the better doing Islamic nations are a testimony to this assumption. Islam though most democratic in itself as a religion is ironically antithetical to democracy as a political system.

People of Pakistan have to rethink as to whether their country really needs democracy and for that matter as to whether they deserve democracy. Democracy may remain the best political system but will never be the one and only for the world. America needs to be more democratic by being more tolerant to other political orders. America is democratic, it needs democracy but the problem is that it wishfully desires the whole world to embrace democracy. An all-democratic world will be a despotically democratic world led by America.
