"America's Got Talent": the Final 4 Performances

Will it Be Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. Or the Silhouettes?

Sandy James

NBC's "America's Got Talent" season finale is coming to an end and this is probably the best final 4 acts that the show has every had. Last night's performances made it tough for voters to choose just one act to win the title and the million dollar prize. Expectations were high and the contestants met those expectations as viewers enjoyed exceptional final performances from them.

As we near the end of the season, the final 4 contestants had to perform exceptionally if they want to win the million dollars. Only one performance fell short as it was obvious that nerves got the best of them. With that said, it was a tough decision to choose the best act of the evening from the other three acts.

Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.

The first performance of the evening was Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. who answered the call of perfection and set the stage for the rest of the contestants. He saved the very best for his final performance as he sang Frank Sinatra's most popular song "My Way" and he sang it perfectly. It was a chilling performance as he connected with the audience and appeared very relaxed and right at home.

He received a thundering standing ovation by the audience including the judges. Sharon Osbourne applauded him on singing it perfectly; Piers Morgan exclaimed that he "...took Sinatra's biggest song and sang it from the heart;" and Howie Mandel told Landau that "There's a real good chance that you sealed the deal."

Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. is a true Horatio Alger story and no matter how the voting turns out, he will not be going back to washing cars again. The exposure that he's received from "America's Got Talent" will have record companies on his doorstep and we'll be hearing from him again.

Team iLuminate

This talented group of individuals gave their best performance of the season and received a standing ovation for their efforts. With hearts aglow during their act, everything was performed perfectly and the audience was with them every step of the way. Howie Mandel felt they were "spectacular", Piers Morgan called them "superb", and Sharon Osbourne said "incredible."

Team iLuminate hails from Los Angeles with a spectacular light show but the question is would viewers be willing to watch them for an hour-and-a-half in the darkness as their eyes try to focus on what's going to happen next. The constant flickering of lights and movement can make one dizzy. We'll have to see how America voted on this group tonight.

Poplyfe

Singing a medley of Queen's songs, Poplyfe unfortunately, fell short on their performance as it was obvious that the pressure and nerves got to the lead singer. At this stage of the game, it's hard to watch a contestant succumb to the pressure while the other contestants performed exceptionally. They sang two great hits from Queen that the audience enjoyed but the lead singer's notes were off and it was very noticeable. Piers Morgan told the group that they were "...very shaky but you are very talented," while Sharon Osbourne commented, "Your singing wasn't great but the passion was".

It will be very difficult for Poplyfe to win this season's top spot on "America's Got Talent" because the other contestants performed so well. Even so, the group is very talented and should not give up their dream.

Silhouettes

The last act of the evening performed to Nat King Cole's "What A Wonderful World" and gave us positive silhouettes that surely put a smile on everyone's face. Usually performing in black and white only, this time they added some color to flowers and balloons which made their performance even brighter and more pleasing. This Denver based group is very unique and creative with their performances that it's difficult not to rush to the phone and vote for them. Creating visions of Chinese Pagodas and bringing positive thoughts to Americans and all viewers, Piers Morgan has repeatedly said that "this is what America needs." Sharon Osbourne felt they were inspirational and Howie said it all when he stated, "It's a tough vote tonight."

Watching the final 4 performances on "America's Got Talent" was exciting and bittersweet. The performances themselves were exceptional but it's knowing that the end of the season is near that makes it bittersweet. NBC's "America's Got Talent" is certainly a winner for the network and many viewers prefer this show over "American Idol".

So, who did you vote for and will your favorite act come out on top tonight? I predict that the winner will be either Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. or the Silhouettes. Both acts are very entertaining and have performed exceptionally throughout this season.

Remember, tonight's finale on "America's Got Talent" will start at a different time, 8PM Eastern and 7PM Central. This should be a nail-biter and it will be deserving to whoever wins.
