"America's Got Talent" Final Four Perform for the Final Time
Prince Poppycock, Michael Grimm, Jackie Evancho, Fighting Gravity
But enough of that; let's visit the final performances of the final four acts on America's Got Talent" season five which are Prince Poppycock, Michael Grimm, Jackie Evancho, and Fighting Gravity.
Prince Poppycock's Final Performance on "America's Got Talent"
Up first is the prince himself, Prince Poppycock. He wowed viewers with his wonderful operatic voice in his New York audition when he came dressed in full costume and sang a most entertaining version of the aria "Largo Al Factotum," and received a standing ovation. For his final performance, Poppycock chose a fairy tale setting in which he, while wearing shiny knightly armor with a billowing red cape and welding a sword, he sang an operatic classic interpretation of a fairy tale rescue of a princess. Poppycock earned a standing ovation from everyone except the buzz-happy Piers and Howie. Buzzers should not be allowed in the finals, but it did not shake Poppycock. Piers explained that he thought the performance was boring compared to Poppycock's previous campy and entertaining performances. "You've blown it" and "Where's the fun?" were statements made by Piers. That's one man's opinion of a great singer and entertainer. I am by no means an opera fan, but Prince Poppycock has shown us his many voices and entertaining factions. Prince Poppycock's response to Piers was, "I was giving America a fairy tale ending...emphasis on the fairy." To re-live Prince Poppycock's performances on AGT, click here. Michael Grimm's Final Performance on "America's Got Talent"
With electric guitar in hand and a full band and orchestra behind him, bluesy singer Michael Grimm takes the stage to give what is believed to be his best performance of the season. (I liked his last performance better when he sang "You Can Leave Your Hat On.") This week Michael's song of choice was "When a Man Loves a Woman."
Jackie Evancho's Final Performance on "America's Got Talent"
This young YouTube phenom wowed viewers again showing off her seasoned voice that is hiding in such a young body as she sang the aria "Ava Maria." She and the backup string orchestra on stage with her were all dressed in white like angels to complement her angelic voice. Some say she missed a lot of the low notes but the orchestra covered up for her mistakes.
Variety Acts Intermission on "America's Got Talent"
Viewers are "surprised" when "America's Got Talent" re-introduces them to some variety acts that have competed on "America's Got Talent" this season beginning with Harmonica Pierre. He is joined on stage in a medley of short performances by aerialists Michael & Ashleigh Dejon, magician Michael Grasso, the entertaining dancer Haspop, ballroom dancers Anna & Patryk, and dance troupe Studio One Young Beast Society. I can't help but wonder if these 6 acts plus the four finalists are the acts that will be touring this fall on the "America's Got Talent" National Tour which will be hosted by Jerry Springer.
Fighting Gravity's Final Performance on "America's Got Talent"
Anchoring the show in their last performance and kicking it up a notch, Fighting Gravity acts out a battle between good and evil. They open with the 'puppetmaster' high in the air winding a clock. Three white doors appear and 2 good guys dressed in white come out. The center white door slides down to a lower level and appears as a red door below where the white door used to be. Two evil red guys come out and begin to dance their anti-gravity version of dancing. The red doors split in two and there are now 2 red doors below 2 white doors. The two evil guys pull a good guy through the doors from up above down to their level. The good guy manages to escape back to the safety of the heavens, but the evil guys follow him. The 'puppetmaster' rewinds the clock to where there are 2 good guys above 2 evil guys. The good guys are standing upright with the 2 evil guys below them upside down. (Imagine they are like mirror images of each other, feet to feet.) They dance and bounce glowing balls in sync with each other's good or evil version while the 'puppetmaster' is guiding their movements from high above. There is a little bit more to the performance, which overall their performances are hard to describe, so it's best if you view Fighting Gravity's final performance on AGT here. As the audience is giving Fighting Gravity a standing ovation and much applause, Piers was rudely trying to shut them up while the group were all still coming from their three-tiered performance to the front of the stage. Piers was unhappy with the performance because there was a small snafu at the end, and because of that they won't win but they will be a headline show in Vegas no matter what happens. But this is a live performance and stuff happens. Not everyone is perfect like Piers. Sharon says it's a good thing that the final decision is not up to Piers. Howie stresses that viewers need to vote for their favorite acts. Find out more about Fighting Gravity here.
