America's Got Talent Season 5 L.A.

America's Got Talent kicked off its fifth season Monday night on NBC at eight o'clock. If you have not watched America's Got Talent, I would say it is American Idol, America'sFunniest Home Videos, and You Think You Can Dance all rolled into one. The show has potential for viewers who cannot get enough of game shows.

David Hasselhoff left the judges' table on America's Got Talent. In his place is Howie Mandel. This may prove to be the best decision yet. Humor seems to be a strong point for Howie Mandel as well as connecting with the viewing audience. At least, I hope it was humor when Howie Mandel hit the X-button before the contestants even started. I hope it was not a case of he already knew what they were going to do and then, the show loses its look of spontaneity.

One of the things that I like about this show is the broad range of "talent" displayed in the competition. Young or old, everyone has a fair shot. Look at the two kids called "Future Funk" from last night's episode. Being a mom, I have to say - they were so cute. Their act was incredible. They got three votes to continue to Las Vegas.

As for the old, I should say older or more mature, contestants take a look at the 70 plus year old Evan Burst. Evan "danced the night away", but not well enough for the judges to send him to Vegas. Personally, I would have sent him just because he dared to try after 60. Go Evan!

America's Got Talent is like a local talent show. You never know what you might see or who you might see doing it. If nothing else, America's Got Talent shows there are a lot of people with confidence who believe in themselves or who has someone behind them that does.

One of the acts that proves you never know what you might see had to be the woman in black with the cat mask, Maricar. She is a talented painter, I will agree. I was just a little surprised to see her act.

It takes strength and skill to perform martial arts. I am still a little surprised to see martial arts on a talent show. Kung Fu Heroes went on to Vegas though.

I am still trying to figure out the impersonation act. Was his talent supposed to be impersonations or comedy? The impersonations were absolutely horrible unless you were in a comedy club that the people you are impersonating are not supposed to be what you sound like. Still confused over this act, but the act is going to Vegas.

America's Got Talent is definitely a talent show for everyone and every act. If you have not watched it yet, you are in for some entertainment and the judges complement the show. Sometimes they are as funny, if not funnier, than the contestants.
