"America's Got Talent" Top Ten Acts Perform

This year on "America's Got Talent," 90,000 acts have auditioned, and now only ten are left. After Tuesday night's voting only four will be left vying for a chance at the million dollar prize and a headline show in Las Vegas that will be awarded the winner of season five of "America's Got Talent." On Tuesday evening, the Top Ten acts gave what they all hope will be the performance of their lives. They all must have done pretty well in the judges' eyes because, guess what? No one got buzzed by Piers!

Studio One Young Beast Society is a dance troupe that, to me, looks like any other dance troupe I see perform. I'm still not sure what makes them stand out from any other dance group.

Christina & Ali had a rough night as were apparent in their vocals.

Jeremy VanSchoonhoven had only 4 chances to practice before he took this week's daredevil act live on "America's Got Talent." He had the judges and the audience gasping from the beginning when he dropped down on his bicycle from a perch high on the steps on the "America's Got Talent" stage. And let's not forget that he is performing these dangerous stunts while injured.

Taylor Mathews reverted to the Taylor we first saw and heard when he sang his rendition of "Over the Rainbow" in his audition. For the final semi-final, Taylor once again picked up his guitar and became his old, comfortable self as he treated listeners to his arrangement of "What a Wonderful World."

Anna & Patryk had the roughest start of all the acts when Anna fell down on the stairs and slid all the way to the bottom on her, well, bottom. (I think she couldn't see the step because of the Mardi Gras mask she was holding in front of her face. The high heels probably didn't help any either.) But less a quick surprised/hurt look on her face, she bounced back to her feet and continued with the Mardi Gras swing dance routine.

Now it's time for the intermission as Enrique Inglesias sings "I Like It" from his new album "Euphoria." (Did I hear autotune vocals in play there?)

Fighting Gravity treated us to their version of the moon walk complete with a laser show. Although they are one of my top 2 favorites, I thought this was one of their weaker performances - they tried to cram too much into too short a time frame, and for the first time I could see their tethers on my big screen TV.

Michael Grimm is still guitar-less and croons a very good version of "Let's Stay Together" by Al Greene. He has been a fan favorite since the beginning, but it's a tough crowd he's competing against this week.

Michael Grasso does another bait and switch magic routine. The girls in the box, the girls not in the box, oh wait, who's that hiding behind the assistant's mask? These tricks are so predictable it's not funny or entertaining. I guess maybe you have to be there to appreciate the tricks as much as the judges seem to, or maybe I'm just wearing my rose colored glasses after having seen David Copperfield live.

Prince Poppycock steals the show once again. He has wowed us from the beginning with his costumes and has went from singing opera to singing a Freddy Mercury (Queen) tune and now a medley of patriotic songs - The Star Spangled Banner/Yankee Doodle Dandy/3 Cheers for the Red, White & Blue.

Jackie Evancho can hold a tune but Sharon nailed it when she said, "I didn't understand a word you said." I wonder if Jackie understands what she is saying/singing?

My top 2 favorites are Fighting Gravity and Prince Poppycock. I'm sure Jackie Evancho will continue to the finals and the fourth spot is up for grabs between Michael Grimm and Taylor Mathews. As much as I don't want to see a singer win "America's Got Talent" it looks like there is a pretty good chance one will. (I think the singers and dancers auditioning for "America's Got Talent" belong on those "other" shows, leaving the variety acts to battle it out on "America's Got Talent.")

Stay tuned for the "America's Got Talent" results show on Wednesday, September 8 at 9 pm ET on NBC. Special guests will be Sarah McLachlan and the cast of Green Day's Broadway show "American Idiot." Who do you think will be the four acts competing for the big prize?
