America's Got Talent Vegas Performances 2010
The America's Got Talent Judges Are Looking for 48 Acts to Perform in Hollywood
America's Got Talent Group C Acts
(in alphabetical order)
1. Arc Attack - Dallas
2. Cheer SF - LA
3. Da Maniacs - Dallas
4. Fighting Gravity - NY
5. Future Funk - LA
6. Haspop - LA
7. Polina Volchek - Chicago
8. Strykers All Stars - Chicago
9. The Belly Dancing Duo - Chicago
10. The South Philly Vikings - NY
The America's Got Talent judges have separated the acts into categories to make it easier for them to have a variety of acts in the finals and to decide on who is the best of the best in each category. Lists have been posted so the acts can see who the competition is in their category. Categories include Acrobatic/Aerial/Movement, Classical Singers, Comedians, Dancers, Danger, Female Singers, Harmonicas, Kids, Magic, Male Singers, and Novelty Acts.
America's Got Talent Acrobatic/Aerial/Movement Acts
Three different acts in this category perform. Michael Lipari and Ashleigh Dejou perform an aerial act, Rudi Macaggi is an acrobatic strongman, and AscenDance "dance" on a climbing wall. The Sky Sirens, a double trapeze act, do not perform this night.
America's Got Talent Classical Singers
Classical singers Prince Poppycock, Hannibal Means and Carlos Aponte were all having vocal issues with the dry air in Vegas. In addition to the dry weather causing concerns, Prince Poppycock was also under the weather and felt his voice was only at about 75% but still wowed the America's Got Talent judges once again. Hannibal, a man of unusual wardrobe tastes, he takes the stage with a rooster cap on his head prompting Howie to ask if that was a cock on his head. Carlos just did not sound like the same guy that sang in the first rounds.
America's Got Talent Comedians
Only 2 comedians made it through to Vegas. Doogie Horner and female contestant but I did not catch her name, nor do I remember seeing her in the first rounds.
America's Got Talent Dancers
Tap Dancers, Hip Hop Dancers, Ballroom Dancers and other varieties of dance make up the biggest category yet. There are 8 different dance groups in the dance category: The Hot Shot Tap Dancers, 2 Bollywood/Indian Dance Troupes, Lindsey Stirling, Wreckless and Style Pros Crew all perform. NaiShon Jones and Nate Klinger do not perform. Lindsey Stirling and Wreckless nail their performances while one of the siblings in The Hot Shot Tap Dancers obviously messed up; he didn't even do a good job of covering up his mistake. Ballroom dancers Gary Mcin Tyre & Susan Kirklin were not seen but youngsters Anna & Patryck performed under the kid's category.
America's Got Talent Dangerous Acts
There are 5 acts that are deemed dangerous: Miss Donna, John Beatty, Jayna Lee, The Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, Twisted Trystan & Krystan and Antonio Restivo. John and the lumberjacks take their shows outside where John shows his strength by grabbing onto 2 ropes connected to the back of 2 motorcycles that then try to tear him in half. Twisted Trystan has Krystan hammer a nail through his tongue while the partial blind lady Miss Donna twirls - and drops - flaming Samoan knives around the stage. Antonio Restivo performs the same magical acts one of the other magicians performed in the first rounds and has a prop malfunction when one of his flaming props does not produce the desired fiery flames.
America's Got Talent Female Singers
In the Female Singers category we find Alice Tan Ridley, April Lane, Debra Romer, Mama T and Mary Ellen. Debra seems to have gotten over her nervousness but her singing still comes across as very sad. Alice sang a nice rendition of Tina Turner's Rollin' on the River, and Mary Ellen just kept going on and on and on. Piers couldn't stand it and left to take a coffee break. Mary Ellen went on playing for over 10 minutes until Howie went up on stage to tell her it was time to go.
America's Got Talent Harmonica Acts
There are only 2 performers in the harmonica category - Jia-Yi He, who plays more than one harmonica at a time and Harmonica Pierre who plays a classical harmonica tune.
America's Got Talent Kids Acts
The kids on America's Got Talent have all bonded together backstage but are all business when it comes time to perform for the judges. Lil' Chris looks sharp as he belts out Stand By Me and CJ Dippa performed a rap he wrote about going to Vegas with America's Got Talent. Simeon was still dressed as Amadeus and played a Mozart tune flawlessly. Although the music was different, Connor's indoor kite flying didn't look much different than what he did in the first round. Anna & Patryck are a cute young dance couple as they cut a rug for the judges.
America's Got Talent Magic Acts
Magic acts performing from Group A are Chips Cooney, Michael Grasso, Murray Sawchuck, and William Scott Anderson. Michael chose to do sleight of hand tricks which he claims are harder and take more practice. He just hopes the judges realize that. Murray made a pretty little sports car appear for Sharon and a girl appear for Piers. Poor Howie got left out altogether. Chips decided to show the America's Got Talent judges the secrets of how his magic tricks work. Personally, I think Chips should be in the Comedians category with his vaudevillian act, not magic. We see nothing of Frankie Elliston - maybe he is in Group B and we'll see him on Wednesday.
America's Got Talent Male Singers
The category sheet had 6 male singers listed - Michael Grimm, Taylor Mathews, Esera Tuaolo, Aisea Poulivaati, Blake Henderson and Matt Keen, but the segment focused on only 2 - Michael Grimm and Taylor Mathews. Taylor has a way of taking a cover song and making it his own like no one I've ever heard do before. Michael has a nice bluesy voice but goes over the allotted 90 seconds and Piers bluntly tells him he could be automatically disqualified for doing so. (So what about Mary Ellen who went on and on and on?? Why not disqualify her on the spot?)
America's Got Talent Novelty Acts
The contestants filed under Novelty Acts feel like they are in that category because the judges didn't know where else to place them. But that's okay, at least they are in Vegas. The Mutley Crew is an animal act using rescued dogs that jumped through the ring master's arms when he held them out as hoops. The first time I saw Sally Cohn I couldn't decided if she was a hand whistler or stand-up comedian. Technically, she is a 75-year-old hand whistler. Maricar always gets the judges attentions with her outfits. We first saw her in a cat woman dominatrix outfit; this time she is dressed as a buxomest she-devil who paints the same type of décor she did the last time. Arthur Nakane is back with his one-man band setup but I still can't understand what he is saying or singing. Anthony Lucia and Mark Hayward, a rope-trick cowboy and a guy who couldn't catch a marshmallow in his mouth, round out the category.
The America's Got Talent judges are looking for 48 acts to send to Hollywood. Ten acts have automatically been sent through leaving 38 slots open. Twenty-seven of those slots have been filled in the first rounds in Vegas leaving eleven spots open for grabs by the acts in Group B. The twenty-seven acts sent on to Hollywood are (in alphabetical order):
1. Alice Tan Ridley - Female Singer
2. Anna & Patryck - Ballroom Dancers
3. Antonio Restivo - Danger Act
4. AscenDance - Aerial/Movement Act
5. Chips Cooney - Magical Comedian
6. CJ Dippa - Rapper/Kids
7. Debra Romer - Female Singer
8. Doogie Horner - Comedian
9. Hannibal Means - Classical Singer
10. Harmonica Pierre - Musician
11. Hot Shot Tap Dancers - Dancers
12. John Beatty - Strongman
13. Lil Chris - Singer/Kids
14. Lindsey Stirling - Dancer/Musician
15. Mary Ellen - Female Singer
16. Maricar - Novelty
17. Michael Grimm - Male Singer
18. Murray Sawchuck - Magician
19. Prince Poppycock - Classical Singer
20. Rudi Macaggi - Acrobat
21. Sally Cohn - Novelty
22. Studio One Young Beast Society - Dance
23. Taylor Mathews - Male Singer
24. Twisted Trystan & Krystan - Danger
25. Wreckless - Dance
Plus 2 additional dance acts - an Indian dance group and another dance group. (If you know who these acts are leave a comment and I will update the article. Most of the acts were not identified and flew by so fast it was hard to tell one from another.)
Look for these acts and more from Group B to perform on July 7 - Airpocalypse (Air Band), Erin Barylski (Body Painter), Jeremy Vanschoohoven (Stunt Bicyclist), Kung Fu Heroes (Martial Artists), Luigi Seno (Singer), Max Winfrey (Knife Thrower), Nate Kenyon (Singer), Nick Pike (Entertainer/Juggler), Rick Smith, Jr (Card Thrower), Ronith (Impressionist), and RNG (Hip Hop Dance). (For Day Two Vegas performances check THIS out.)
Tune in to America's Got Talent, Wednesday, July 7, at 9pm on NBC to see which 11 acts from Group B will make it to Hollywood.

Post a CommentHow sad! How could they put Sally Cohn & Mary Ellen through and cut so many really talented people. I thought this show was about TALENT. I was hoping with Hasselhoff gone the judging would be more equitable but not so. RIDICULOUS!!
Is the show a hoax, or is it for real. I cannot believe how many good acts they let go. The military guy was great magician. So many good singing talents let go. This had to be a joke. I was a fan but not anymore. Disappointed...
I don't understand the make up of the top 48 and how the judges based their decisions. They dropped good acts worthy to be on the top 48 such as the magician Michael Grasso and let Mary Allen moved on. I think they made a huge mistake and hope they realize it.
Thanks Michael! They did make it difficult to keep up with the names of the acts.
Good work on keeping up with all those names. I've noticed some other commentators had more problems than you did.
