America's Got Talent New York Auditions Part 2

Alice Clair Gunkee
America's Got Talent is still auditioning in the Big Apple for the second week in a row. The eight New York talents that were sent through by the judges to Vegas include (in alphabetical order by first name) Alice Tan Ridley, Anna & Patryck, Chips Cooney, Eric Koloski, Mary Ellen, Michael Grasso, Rudi Macaggi, and Spangles Dance Company.

Alice Tan Ridley on America's Got Talent
Singer, 58
Alice Tan Ridley is not a total unknown as we are finding out about many of the talents appearing on America's Got Talent. (Just go type in the contestant names in Google or YouTube to see where and for how long they have previously performed.) Alice is the mother of Gabourey Sidibe who starred in the movie Precious, which is not to say that Alice doesn't deserve her own big break - everyone does. This New York subway singer has a big voice; win or lose, I'm sure we'll be hearing more from her in the future.

Anna & Patryck on America's Got Talent
Dance Duo, 12
These two 12-year-olds really know how to cut a rug, but they were so precise that they didn't look comfortable performing.

Chips Cooney on America's Got Talent
Illusionist, 61
If you like dry humor and vaudeville, then you'll love the performance put on my illusionist Chips Cooney. Chips boots his amateurish magical tricks on purpose, all with a hang dog straight face that had the audience roaring.

Eric Koloski on America's Got Talent
Yo-Yo Performer, 20
According to Yo-Yo Wiki Eric, a 20-year-old college student, has been competing in the yo-yo world since 1999 and has released his first signature yo-yo known as the K-os.

Mary Ellen Elaine Rineer on America's Got Talent
Singer, 74
After receiving two X's from the judges, this 74-year-old singing/yodeling/Patsy Cline wanna-be was passed through to Vegas. I still don't understand why.

Michael Grasso on America's Got Talent
Magician, 36
Finally, here's a magician with stunning magic tricks. Sure, he started off with the old assistant in the box switch trick, but can you figure out how they did that switch so fast? I'm not sure I liked the way he tried to pull off the David Copperfield acting to go along with his magic, but the little magic we saw was astounding!

Rudi Macaggi on America's Got Talent
Performer, 43
I guess Rudi is an acrobat? I'm not sure how else to describe a guy that stands on his head on top of a basketball on top of champagne bottles on top of champagne glasses. It was like watching a dog do a trick.

Spangles Dance Company on America's Got Talent
Dance Group, 20s-30s
The Spangles have 10 ladies kind of scantily dressed in outfit's reminiscence of the 80s doing a dance routine. Boring for the women, but the men seemed to enjoy it as usual.

I have no clue how Rineer got through either, especially when that ten year old who was actually pretty good didn't get put through. That would've insulted me if I was her mother.

Good overview. Alice Tan Ridley seems to be the most serious contender so far.
