Ronald Reagan said once, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction." It is my belief that we in America have smashed through that wall a couple of generations ago and many of us are just beginning to feel the severe concussion from it. As many of us annually celebrate our nation's independence, too too many of us are critically lacking the fundamental reasons for our nation's independence. And less know what our nation's Fathers fought to be free from -- a over burdensome and out of control government.
Here are just a few startling facts of the state of this republic: According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, less than 12% of government high schoolers proficient in American History; 35% of fourth-graders knew the purpose of the Declaration of Independence; A Department of Education study reported that only 9% of U.S. high school students know why it is important to participate in a democracy, and just 6% know why having a constitution benefits a country; Less than 29 States require American history in school; At least half of the states don't even require high school students to take civics; Only three states require it in middle school; The Census reports 45% of Americans Live in households receives is dependent on the government; A recent American Bar Association Journal reported, "those under the age of 25 are less likely to vote than were their elders or younger people in previous decades and students also are less interested in public or political issues than were previous generations, and they exhibit gaps in their knowledge of fundamental democratic principles and processes". Too many of the youths of the republic have no idea how or why this country was established or how special and exceptional it is. Can you imagine 35% of the Jewish youth population not knowing Judaism or how or why Israel was created? Imagine the state of crisis that situation would create there. Yet, barely a blimp appears on this nation's Establishment Media regarding this dyer situation. Yet, Time Magazine can ask "Does the Constitution Still Matter."?
As many of the populous are staggeringly oblivious to the operations of government and what is supposed to be their role as shepherd, the government of the U.S has become indebted to nearly every nation on the planet as in no time in our history; the top nations being Communist China, Japan, the United Kingdom, Oil Exporting Nations (include Ecuador, Venezuela, Indonesia, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Gabon, Libya, and Nigeria), Brazil, Taiwan, the Caribbean Islands (Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Netherlands Antilles and Panama), Russia, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Canada, and Mexico. And will those nations may hold billions of Dollars of U.S debt, the privately-owned Federal Reserve holds TRILLIONS. Can anyone explain how the government owes anything to Iraq if we are to believe that the U.S rescued it from the world's worst tyrant and supposedly freed them?
Coupled with this, the U.S government has sought to totally restrict America's ability to access our vast energy resources and have enabled elements to secularize and divide the populous through extreme politically correctness policies. To make things worst, the central government is in an all out effort to allow in every peasant into the nation from the southern hemisphere so long as they can repopulate this nation not into our image, as a nation of free loving and independent minded people, but in theirs, of people who look to be myrmidons. Even the most casual observer can see that this republic's posterity is in grave jeopardy.
Today's America is not independent due it's inability or lack of capacity to be independent. It is not independent due to the people's lost of our history of self-reliance and independence and uniqueness as a people and as a nation. Thomas Jefferson warned us to be eternally vigilant of the government so as it does not threaten our freedoms and liberties in its malpractice. But, there are only two ways for this to happen; one fierce application of the Constitution that defines the proper jurisdiction and role of government, therefore knowledge thereof by the people, and two, and more importantly, a politically engaged and self-governing people to ensure that the government adheres properly to the Constitution to secure the blessing and liberty for our posterity's prosperity. Jefferson also prophetically stated, "Yes, we did produce a near-perfect republic. But will they [the people] keep it? Or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom? Material abundance without character is the path of destruction." It is up to us to ensure that our independence and freedoms will be available for our next generations.
