A celebrity's life is probably fascinating and even surreal to someone living a normal life stylem, but the truth is at the end of the day they are just like us in many ways and they face some of the same problems we do, if not more. Lets take them down the pedestal we've place them in our minds for one second and acknowledge them as a person not for what they are known for, but as a person. And we will realize that they deserve to have there privacy and respect just as we do. Recently Paris Hilton's most personal information was posted online for everyone to see and to my surprise many wanted access to the website. Something is seriously wrong with that picture and it's so unfortunate. Could we ever read our friends private and most intimate diary behind there back without feeling any shame, so than why do we feel no shame while invading the privacy of celebrities?
What are we really after? The tabloid industry has never been so strong and its revenue continues to grow rapidly. While Britney's bald head makes the headlines, the war in Iraq will miss the deadline. Sometimes it seems as if the media has turned into a circus, covering ridiculous stories. Our countries at war, violence has increase in the streets and the list goes on and on. It would be unjust to let the media take all the blame because I see it as a simple business transaction "service and demand". They provide the service and we demand the garbage and lies.
So I ask again what we are really after. I want to share a famous quote that may enlighten us "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convince the world that he did not exist". We can hide from the truth, act as if it doesn't exist, keep ourselves distracted by medaling into other peoples business and nothing will change. Or we can make a difference and choose what's most important in our lives. We owe it not only to ourselves but to our children because the new generation will pay for it dearly. So the next time you feel the urge to pick up a Tabloid full of lies and deceit remember what's important to you.

Post a CommentGreat article...I completely agree that celebrities deserve privacy like the rest of us...considering in places like L.A. the media is covered by "freedom of the press" yet they ignore the California Constitution sectin 1 that says "all people have the right to...privacy". The whole "celebrities don't get a private life" is so flawed and so weak in many ways. Mind you, people making money from it will justify it any way they want.
It's sad people think it's their right to watch someone have a meltdown infront of the whole world and even more sad people find that entertaining. People complain about the pap's yet buy the magazines. People just don't get it.
