America's Second Harvest - Kids Cafe Program - Lesson Outline ESL

Shania Twain is one of my favorite singers. I once heard her on an interview tell the reporter that she gives her proceeds from her song "Feed The Children" to her favorite charity "America's Second Harvest." I found this to be very interesting and inspirational. Since I am a teacher I decided to have my students do some research and learn about this charity.

We discovered the "Kids Cafe" program while doing our research. This program is a national program that was launched in 1993. It is part of "America's Second Harvest." The "Kids Cafe" program is a program that provides free meals and snacks to low income children in poverty stricken neighborhoods. Not only do they provide food, but they also provide recreational activities and educational support.

The following is a Library Research project my middle school English as a Second Language class worked on. I hope you can too learn about this great charity.

Steps to Follow:
1. Go to the Internet and go to Explorer or Netscape.
2. Type in www.secondharvest.org.
3. Go to the Get Informed Section in red.
4. Click on programs like Kids Cafe.
