Right now there is an estimated ball park figure of an$800 billion dollar stimulus package up for discussion. As I would imagine each and every individual has an idea of how this money should be spent. The top priority at the moment of discussion is giving schools money for projects, reconstruction and accommodating our growth. This is very important because our children spend most of their time in school and we need to invest in our future. This is important as we continue to grow in population. Each and every child is entitle to a good quality education, thus strengthening our country.
I believe we need to invest in our teachers. They work so hard for our children and many do not get paid what they are worth. Why do so many other professions pay so much yet these individuals in these "cushy" jobs have nowhere near as much impact on society that our teachers do.
Next up for discussion is homeowner's loans. There are so many struggling families losing their homes left and right. This is probably one of the worst times our country has ever seen and the stimulus package is designed to help out the families that qualify.
Also the middle class household should be receiving about $1,000 per family, this is not a huge amount of money but it will boost the economy for a little while and hopefully put food on our tables and gas in our vehicles, so we can feed our kids and drive to work (those of us who haven't been laid off).
Although this stimulus package is equivalent to putting a band-aid on a broken arm there is the concept of survival. There are people out there who are barely living. I say go ahead and issue this package for now but lets not ever need to do this again. Lets stop this short term fix and really watch our government spending. We are the people of the United States, we are a strong nation but we need to fix the emergency before we start funding outer- space research or giving billions of dollars for a new space shuttle. There will be plenty of time to return to these projects only after our people have clothes to wear, food on the table and our recycling has become convenient.
