AmericInn Silver Bay

An Exciting Visit for Those Who Travel

Steve Glenn
The most magnificent vacation I and my wife have ever taken was in Minnesota's North Shore Region. Beautiful landscapes of forest and lakes were the most fascinating scenic views as we drove along Highway 61 Scenic Route. The North Shore Region is only three and one half miles from Minneapolis Minnesota, and includes a number of historical parks, hiking trails, and one of the most memerible hotels in the region: The AmericInn Hotel.

Features

The AmericInn offers you a beautifully decorated lobby with high speed internet excess, and a relaxing indoor heated swimming pool, kiddy pool, frog slide, and an adventurous 110 feet figure eight splash waterslide to satisfy the swimmer in both you and your children. It also treats you with a delicious complimentary breakfast to get your day going in the right direction.

The spacious, clean rooms and suites accommodate at least two to four guest, and features double queen and king size beds, spotless bathrooms, with or without whirlpool. You'll also find a colored TV with cable if you prefer only to relax and enjoy the get-a-way time.

If you're anxious to sightsee, many rooms offer a balcony with fantastic lake Superior views or beautiful forest views along scenic highway 61, and if you look closely the chance of spotting wildlife is almost certain.

AmericInn is located along Scenic Route 61 at 150 Mensing Drive in Silver Lake Minnesota, near Superior National Park and one half mile from Lake Superior. Besides these tourist destinations there are many more attractions including Split Rock Lighthouse Start Park, Gooseberry State Park, Bay Area Historical Society, and Superior Hiking Trails.

Before and After

While driving along Scenic Highway Route 61, on the way to American Inn Hotel, I and my happy wife suddenly came upon Spite Rock State Park and couldn't resist the temptation to see this historical landmark. We had heard about the beauty of Split Rock from other travelers, and also had seen picture of it in books as well as the internet. But it wasn't anything as exciting as being there. As we made as way up the winding trails toward the lighthouse, we felt a sense of newness and discovery. We had never walked through the forest while holding hands together. The people who we encountered showed us kindness and gave us direction along the trails.

As we stood on the shore of Lake Superior gazing up at Split Rock Lighthouse, a sense of wonder came over us, not only us, but over all the people who stood there watching this fascinated landmark. I couldn't help but take a half dozen or more pictures of this attraction. These would be great memories to share with family and friends.

After we had arrived at AmericInn hotel and relaxed with hunger on the balcony for a while, we drove about a quarter of a mile to a wonderful area restaurant: the Northern Lights Café.

The Northern Lights Café was a small, comfortable restaurant, which featured a beautiful outside garden and a spectacular view of Lake Superior. Tables for eating were in and around the garden.

The food menu consisted of a wide variety of orders, from burgers and hot fries to steak and potatoes. Pies, cakes, and sweet drinks as well as different types of ice cream flavors made you want to stay there and enjoy the pleasures of taste.

The mood and atmosphere was quiet and relaxing, and the waitresses greeted you with kindness. I and my wife enjoyed a nice juicy quarter pound burger and hot fries. The wonderful thing is that we were able to make new plans for many areas of our life and affairs.

After a pleasant dinner, we walked along the shores of the Silver Bay Marina, an attraction in close proximity to AmericInn Hotel. I stood upon the giant rock piles and shot a few interesting flicks of water and various rock designs. It had been a perfect day. We had seen more attractions than we had expected on our short, one day vacation. In the morning we would head back to Minneapolis, after a good old AmericInn complimentary breakfast, carrying many wonderful memories within our hearts.
