Ameridiction: America as a Contradiction

Ultimax
What is America? Who is America? Why is America? To whom does America belong? Over the centuries these questions are brought up during the course of America's growth. So far an answer has come up for each question, and of course those answers are totally dependent on self with general analysis, but they are answers all the same. But because those questions have been answer does not exclude one from the topic. When doors close new doors open. Another question appears and is in need of answering.

I have come to the conclusion that America contradicts itself. My answer to what is America is that it is a contradiction. "America: Land of the_______, Home of the _______." Originally, as we all know, the phrase is "Land of the Free, Home of the Brave." In the corporate world there is no such thing as 'free'. Most corporate businesses use 'free' to lure in customers and clients. It is a win some, lose some type of thing but effective because we all see free as a good thing so it will at least catch our attention.

Still centering on the contradiction issue, the answer to the second question, who is America; America is a White man who looks out for the better interest in favor of himself or people like it. This nation is one nation found under God, with liberty and justice for all. Over the years America has learned to grow and love those who share the same interest as it does. However, America's interest is not always the best for all. America struggled with slavery, war with other countries (and itself), economy issues, etc. America claims to have the answer to a problem but it really does not have anything close to an answer all the time. Some might say it is a wonder America lasted this long as the most powerful country in the world with the most problems with itself. If this White man was a thing it would be a hierarchy. If this hierarchy was an object it would be a ladder, a tree, some stairs, or anything that leads up and down. At the top of all of these is the biggest part of America, the main part of America, the only part of America that matters. And if anyone wants to get up to be close to that part one must conform, blend in, and be as similar to that part of America as possible. Unfortunately, there are few alternatives to get to that top.

Why is America then? The real question is why is America a contradiction? People are at liberty to change their minds and make decisions based off of their free will. If America is a white man (a person) then the same rule applies. America can be wishy-washy if and when it wants to. Maybe America will change its mind about who can be eligible for the top.

But now, to whom does America belong? I always wondered why there are so many foreigners coming to America. What possibly could be that great about America to them? More importantly, why does it take a Non-American to see all the greatness America has to offer? It could be due to that fact that America has more to offer than most countries. This is true. So why do Americans see it differently?

From the peek of the twentieth century, Immigrants from all over came to America to start a new life as an American. Some of these Immigrant-Americans became very successful as factory and industry owners (tycoons), entrepreneurs in all areas, entertainers, and more. They saw no limit to what could be done in America. Today we have an illegal immigrant issue. Immigrants from Mexico would sneak their way over to America to gain a better life for themselves and their families. Who could blame them? Mexico has living conditions that no American will stand for. For a Spanish illegal immigrant who has a family in Mexico, the goal is to sneak into America and obtain a job to earn money to bring the entire family to America or establish better living conditions in Mexico by converting American dollars to Pesos which can definitely add up over time and quantity.

Americans can point out all the bad things about America while Non-Americans can point out all the good things and the good things will out-weigh the bad things no matter how much each has. Yes, America has a major economic issue, but at least Americans have freedom of religion. Yes, America has a healthcare problem, but at least Americans "abolished" slavery. All the problems of America are invisible to foreigners until it affects them. Americans take what America has to offer until we see what other countries go through. People see all the great things about something they have never seen or had. An Immigrant acts like a humble guest at a bad home.

I do not hate America (I am not nor do I support Mr. Reverend Wright). I've started to notice America contradictions while I was in my second year of High School. I started to embrace the fact that it is true, last year. Dinesh D'Souza, Richard Rodriguez, and evenLuther Standing Bear can all back me up on this analysis. Do not get me wrong, I am an American and I love having all America has to offer. I just can not understand why and how America can do this to its beloved Americans and even soon to be Americans Hopefully in the next five to ten years we as Americans can work together on changing America, again, for the benefit of who really deserve it: the people of America and all who can relate to that.
