Amidst the Crowd

Virginia Gaces
The crowd cheers, I stand

alone, drowned by the noise

unfeeling, unyielding.

They push, in flight, I pose,

deaf, I hear nothing.

Dismembered , I fly above

them in circles, thinking

of you and days gone by.

The laughter and joy,

the love we have shared

all relegated in my memory, dry

as an arid desert.

All because of my pride,

haughty, condescending

unforgiving.

Whose fault is this loneliness?

You for being unfaithful?

Or me for being unforgiving;

Only time will tell and

I stand alone, a lost soul

alone and lonely.

Very good! I love how the title fits her broken heart. Even in the company of a million people, she cries missing her one true love.
