Downtown in Arthur, IL, you will find the Country Cheese and More store. Inside this store, you can browse homemade Amish noodles, breads, soup mixes, candy, and a variety of flavored cheese. Some of the variety of cheeses include provolone, cheddar bacon, cheddar, and Swiss. There is also some fruit flavored sweet salsas such as cherry and peach. Every day, you can come in and try the samples set out such as Amish made peanut butter, salsas or even some candy. If you are looking for a quick bite, you can order a bowl of soup, a sandwich, or drink on one of their fruit flavored smoothies. Inside the store are two tables in which you can sit down and enjoy your sandwich or a snack.
Also in Arthur, is Yoder's Country Kitchen. Get a taste of Amish dining with the buffet and salad bar. On the buffet, you can choose country fried chicken, Amish made noodles, dressing, green beans, corn, potatoes, gravy, and much more. On Fridays, you can get fried shrimp on the buffet as well. Each night, the buffet may have a little something different for you to choose to mix it up just a bit. If you would rather not order off of the buffet, you can also order from the menu as well. A popular order with that taste of comfort food is a bowl of mashed potatoes drenched with homemade Amish chicken and noodles. Don't forget to get a slice of homemade bread with sticky Amish peanut butter or delightful apple butter. Once you are finished dining, don't forget to visit the gift-shop where you purchase Amish made pies, bread, or other pastries. You can also purchase gifts such as candles, Cd's, Amish made crafts, and more. You can take home a little piece of small town living with you, or buy it as a gift for a friend.
If you are in the mood for something cold and sweet, a cup of coffee or a simple sandwich, visit Roselen's Coffees & Delights. It is found along route 133 next to the Dollar General store in Arthur, Illinois. It is one of the only Amish owned coffee shops in Illinois. There are twenty four flavors of ice cream to choose from as well as iced cappuccinos, hot espressos, wraps, sandwiches and plenty of delicious and handmade pastries to eat. When its warm outside, you can get cooled off inside with one of their flavored smoothies as well.
So if you need some friendly small town treatment or would like to try the comforts of Amish country cooking, Arthur has plenty to offer. Go shopping downtown in the stores, purchase food to take home to prepare, or dine in one of the restaurants for a slice of comfort.
