AMNESIA for SALE

Kathryn Neff Perry
Last night I watched a movie where the star got hit in the head and she couldn't remember who she was.
I used to read about people who suffered from amnesia and felt sorry for them. That was before I was the mother of teenagers. Now I think one of the most wonderful gifts would be to suffer from a little amnesia once in a while.

Like maybe on Friday night after I drop my son off for pizza at the Purple Indian. I'd regain my memory on Tuesday.

Sometimes I think my own children suffer from amnesia. When I ask my son to burn the trash, he says he will in a minute, usually after he does his homework.

When I ask them to clean their rooms they usually say they'll do it later, after a short nap-because they are too tired from their long day at school.

I probably shouldn't complain, because my children are pretty talented.
Years ago I found a poem my son dedicated to his sister,
"Boys go to Mars to get more candy bars-Girls go to Jupiter to get more studpider".

Just as recently as a few weeks ago, my little Amy left a legacy of her own. She brought home a paper from the PTO Carnival and on that paper she was supposed to fill in her name and address and any special talent she might possess. Imagine my surprise when she wrote "break dancing".
