If you're like me, you have a lot.
There's something about a cool or interesting font that I can't resist. Sometimes, I'll download a font even if I have no clue how I'll use it. I just have to have it.
Considering how many free fonts there are out there, you can imagine how often that happens. And, as a result, I have hundreds of fonts on my hard drive. And, since I like to stay organized, I needed a program that could organize my font collection.
There are a lot of free font managers out there. But AMP Font Viewer is the one that seems to work best for me.
What is AMP Font Viewer?
AMP Font Viewer is a free and very easy to use font manager. You can use this program to install new fonts, uninstall fonts you don't care for anymore, and organize your fonts into categories.
Installing Font Temporarily
Having too many fonts installed can interfere with the performance of your computer. And, with some operating systems, there is a limit on how many fonts you can install.
With AMP Font Viewer, you can install fonts temporarily. That way, you can use the fonts when you need them, without having hundreds of fonts straining your computer's resources.
Previewing Fonts with AMP Font Viewer
Most font viewers have a way for you to preview your fonts. Simply highlight a font, and you'll see a picture of what it looks like in a preview screen.
But, with AMP Font Viewer, you can look at all of your fonts at one time on one screen. This comes in handy if you're trying to pick a font for a new project, and don't really know what you're looking for. Just open the View Fonts List and all of your fonts are spread out in front of you, so you can look them over at a glance.
If you find looking at all of your fonts at one time overwhelming, or you already know the kind of font you want (like a script font, or a dingbat font) you can limit the fonts displayed on the screen to the fonts in a single category.
You can also print a list of fonts for easy reference.
AMP Font Viewer is a relatively simple, but pretty powerful, freeware program. If you have a large font collection, or you often use fonts in various projects, AMP Font Viewer will help make working with your fonts a little easier.
