A*Muse - The Eco-Friendly Line from Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson is known for a lot of things, but her clothing choices aren't exactly her most memorable assets. Her lack of clothing, however, might be among her most noteworthy moments. This is why I was surprised to learn that she was launching her own fashion line with Richie Rich, a designer and close friend of Anderson's. However, because of Anderson's involvement with animal rights groups, I wasn't surprised to learn that the line would be eco-friendly.

The new line, A*Muse, debuted during New Zealand's fashion week on September 25, 2009. According to stylist.com, the show was well-received by the audience, and they shared pictures of the event to show off the new line.

The collection features a few dresses, mainly catered to Anderson's style-short and see-through. A metallic-pink faux-leather dress came down the runway accented by yellow high heels, and would best be kept for a costume party. It's not realistic clothing for any other occasion.

The next piece was a mini-dress that was pink and black striped, and reminded me of clothing my Barbie used to wear in the early 90's. I could see this being worn on the beach, but not many other places. Along with other beach-style wear was a black and white printed romper, which looks comfortable, but not easily wearable by many women.

The next piece to come down the runway was a white tank top with Anderson's image on the front (in a bikini, of course), and the cropped pants featured a drop-crotch style. Not in any way, shape, or form should these pants ever been worn in public. Ever.

After seeing other featured pieces, I didn't expect there to be much feminine wear, but the next dress surprised me. It's a beautiful dress, really, and my favorite piece. It's a fun, flirty tie-dyed dress that has multiple layers of fabric just above the knee, and features a spaghetti-strap tank. The colors are pink, orange, and white, and work together well.

There were also several casual pieces, including sheer t-shirts with Anderson's image on them as well, paired with dark leggings or bikini bottoms. Swimwear was also featured, along with a pink, orange, green, and yellow bikini that was very revealing.

I appreciate the fact that Anderson wants to take a greener, more eco-friendly approach to fashion, and that she is actively involved in promoting the line. It is admirable when designers try something new that will help the Earth, but that's where my admiration for the line stops. Although the show looked fun and the models looked happy, the clothing wasn't realistic or fashionable. Many women could not wear these clothes, but perhaps the line is meant to be more of a statement of Anderson's style via Richie Rich's designs.
