Located about 15 minutes from Wichita,Kansas is Park City, Kansas.Although Park City is barely a dot on a city map the owners of the new amusement park Wild West World want to change that.Wichita,Kansas nicknamed " The Air Capital City of the World" impressively because it is the largest aircraft manufacturer in the United States with a population of over 350,000 people just last year and that doesn't include the close neighboring cities such as Park City.

Although well known for it's aircraft companies Wichita is not well known for much else.Inside the city limits is the Sedgwick County Zoo,opening in 1969 it has always been a place for families to enjoy together and over the past few years has expanded and renovated to meet and match the ever growing visitors. Also not far is Old Cowtown museum it is a 56 year old landmark that takes you back to the "living history" of the 1800's with real people making blankets, churning butter and tending to animals interesting to see at least once.

More upscale you can visit Exploration Place it is a hands on experience with exhibits such as flight and health. You can watch high tech interactive shows or explore the wetlands and it's inhabitants.Craving a little culture move to downtown."Old Town" over the past 10 years has boomed housing more than 100 restaurants, many which are renovated buildings originally built in the late 1800's early 1900's.

There are plenty of shops, nightclubs, theaters and museums.Speaking of theaters Crown Uptown Professional Dinner Theater offers year round Broadway-style shows and elegant evening buffets and is currently in it's 29th season,as well as adults this dinner theater offers shows for children including a lunch buffet of ' kids' favorites, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, french fries and mac&cheese.

So, with all of this to do and see plus more what's with all the chatter of not enough entertainment?Sadly you can drive about 4 hours east to Kansas City, Missouri home of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals baseball, with a population of over 440,000 ,fairly comparable to Wichita.Thousands of tourists flock to their many attractions such as Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun(which both are part of the national chain of Six Flags),the ultimate shopping experiences of Westport,The City Market and The Plaza plus the in season football and baseball games.

Now if you go about 3 hours south of Wichita you run into Oklahoma City,Oklahoma.Population over 530,000 a little bit bigger by standards offers up Frontier City and ,Whitewater Bay(also part of the national chain Six Flags),the Oklahoma City Zoo ( which is ranked one of the 10 best zoos in the United States),the National Cowboy Hall of Fame & Museum as well as the Softball Hall of Fame and the 45th Infantry exhibit.

The city of Wichita definitely needs to step up and bring fun and entertainment to the ever growing population and it needs to meet the demands of the public.Perhaps this new amusement park Wild West World will prove to do the trick.Wild West World will be the first ' major ' amusement park in Kansas to ever open. There will be everything from thrill rides to children's rides to games of skill, shopping and theater shows all wrapped into one.We will keep our fingers crossed that it will bring in the tourists as planned putting little ol' Park City on the map and increasing visitors to Wichita.

Well, today after being open only two months Wild West World closed it's gates. Went broke in that short a period of time. Must have been one of several factors. One a parking charge, and two a church leader that was putting on services at the park, most people in the area did not care for that concept.

We visited WWW a couple of weeks ago - my granddaughter and me. Loved it but have one comment to make - do not appreciate the carnival attractions. I was surprised there were so many of them and kids love them-grandparents don't. Would take the kids more often if they were not there. Would rather buy something for the kids. Thanks for this opportunity to voice my opinion.
