Entertainment Weekly reported that Warner Bros. had finally made the announcement, and there is going to be quite a bit of debate about the direction that Snyder went. In the announcement, Snyder stated that, "Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about. So we are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful."
He says it all with those adjectives he used to describe Adams, and that is what die-hard fans of the comic should focus on as the film gets ready to go into production. Adams has already made her mark in the industry, especially with three Oscar nominations under her belt in the past few years. Her most prominent recent films include roles in "The Fighter," "Julie & Julia," "Doubt," and of course "Enchanted." It was with "Enchanted" that Adams really broke on to the scene, and the way that she carried that movie ended up winning her quite a few additional roles. Now she will take part in the new "Superman" movie, and that cross into a major blockbuster could really confirm her stardom.
This is going to be a star-studded version of "Superman" when it finally comes out, as Adams is just the latest recognizable name in the cast. Snyder already cast Henry Cavill as the new "Man of Steel," and his parents in the film will be Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. This is a really strong cast, and it could definitely provide a strong core if there are to be sequels this time around. The film has a drop date of December 2012, so there is plenty of time to make sure that they do it right this time. Hopefully with the addition of Adams, this becomes one of the most anticipated films of 2012.
