Amy Winehouse 27 Found Dead in Her London Apartment: Her Music Lives On

A Sad but Familar Story in the Music World: Is 27 a Cursed Age for Musicians?

Candice

Amy Jade Winehouse (born September 14, 1983 - July 23, 2011) is dead at 27, such a sad but familiar story in the music world. And not just in the music world either. Our country is riddled with millions of cases of drug overdoses, our children, our heroes, and musicians are no exception to this. Now it hasn't been released yet, Amy's cause of death, but it's not hard to take a wild stab and say it was an overdose.

Here are just a few off the top of my head: Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, also lead singer from Tonic, lead singer from Alice in Chains, and hundreds others that could be named. All of these and more we have lost from drug overdoses.

And that's not the only strange thing... how about it happening exactly when she was 27? You know, Jim, Jimi, Janis, and Kurt Cobain were all 27 when they died? Kinda' creepy huh?

So its a real tragedy, and so sad, but true...Amy Winehouse was found in her London apartment dead.

According to a press release from the Metropolitan Police:

"Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."

What a sad, sad story, and even though we've all heard a million times before, just to be clear... the press has not yet released this information,But I am sure it was some kind of a drug related death, as it is very well known Amy struggled, and fought many issues with drugs in her life. It's a tragedy and a loss for the whole world.

Amy Winehouse...you will be missed...My sincerest condolences go out to her family, friends, and loved ones during this impossibly difficult time.

May she R.I.P.

It is sad about Amy Winehouse. Well researched article. Liked the mention of the facts about other artist who died at 27.

Sort of a curse that the talented die young, unable to cope with success. Is there a way out of this syndome? Just sad and what a loss! siva

I think it's sad that she'll probably be remembered more for the age of her death and her possible cause of death being drugs than for her being a human being who once lived...

    Very, very sad.

It's pretty bad when everyone already pretty much knows it was drugs even if they haven't said it that was the cause yet (or did they?) I don't know, but it wasn't much of a shock.
