Amy's Alphabet Soup has a rich tomato soup base with a good balance of vegetables and pasta. The vegetables include green beans, carrots, potatoes and corn. The vegetable are firm and not mushy with good sized pieces of whole cut green beans. The alphabet pasta is soft but not mushy.
I think the soup taste similar to Spaghetti O's. I'm sure Spaghetti O's isn't made with such wholesome ingredients but that is what I was reminded of as I ate Amy's Alphabet soup.
I guess this is suppose to be a kids soup but I love this soup and it does remind me of my childhood. I am a kid at heart so that is my explanation of why I not only like Amy's Alphabet Soup but also because the last time I was eating it I found myself trying to spell out something with the letters and was complaining to myself that there wasn't enough pasta vowels.
This is not a condensed soup. You do not need to add water. It doesn't say how to prepare it, besides just heat and serve. I am sad to say I chose the microwave as my heating tool of choice. It only took a little over a minute and the soup came out piping out and very tasty.
My only complaint about the soup is the corn. I like corn, but sometimes I don't. I would prefer it not be in this soup. This is just a personal preference. The corn itself is firm and not mushy. It is the perfect texture. I just would prefer to go without it.
Amy's Alphabet Soup is vegan and there is only 80 calories in each 1 cup serving and it has no fat. All of the ingredients are organic, except for the salt. And, you can understand every one of the ingredients. So much so that you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen.
I don't doubt that kids would enjoy this too. I think if you prepare it with a vegan grilled cheese sandwich you will have a hearty and healthy meal while creating a nice new childhood memory.
