Amy's Rice Macaroni with Non-Dairy Cheeze

Over the years I have found that you can't go wrong with Amy's brand products. When I found out they were coming out with a vegan, soy-free and gluten-free version of macaroni and cheese I almost died. When I finally got my hands on a couple boxes of Amy's Rice Macaroni with Non-Dairy Cheeze at Whole Foods I was ecstatic.

It wasn't long after I put it in my freezer that I took it out to make for lunch. It has a really rich cheesy flavor, without actual cheese. It is make partly with Daiya brand vegan cheese. Its taste is just like the macaroni and cheese I remember. It is the perfect comfort food.

When I glanced at the nutrition information I was shocked at the amount of fat, 22 grams, but with each bite I cared less and less about the fat grams. All I can say is each gram of fat in it is worth it. Plus, a non veg. friend compared it to her non-vegan mac 'n' cheese and the fat , sodium and calories were a lot lower in Amy's brand Rice Macaroni and Cheeze. It has 520 calories, 740mg of sodium, 72g of carbs, 3g. of fiber, 8g of protein and 6% of calcium and iron, for the whole entree.

Amy's is known for healthy food made with whole ingredients that you would actually use in your own kitchen and not chemicals. While Amy's Rice Macaroni and Cheeze still keeps somewhat to their values it probably isn't the healthiest option of Amy's product but I am sure it is a lot healthier than the similar animal product options and definitely just as good.

Like all healthier convenience options Amy's products are priced higher that the less healthier versions. The price varies greatly. I found the Rice Macaroni and Cheeze on sale at a Whole foods in Southern California for $4.00 each. While someone I talked to in Michigan at the exact same time it was on sale for $2.99 at their Whole Foods. I felt a bit ripped off and a little tempted to fly to Michigan to stock up.

One suggestion, when you go to look for the product look very carefuly at the packaging. Amy's has a few other macaroni 'n' cheese products and the packaging looks very similar. Look for the green bar at the top that says gluten and dairy free and double check by checking the back where it say Ingredients. It will state vegan if you have the right one. It is very easy to get them mixed up otherwise.

Amy's Rice Macaroni with Non-Dairy Cheeze is rich, smooth, creamy and cheesy but without the cruelty to animal. This macaroni and cheese can satisfy every one and just about every diet restriction. It is not only dairy free making it great for vegans and those who are lactose intolerant but it is also gluten and soy free making it perfect for anyone with celiac or with soy allergies. Most of all it is absolutely delicious which will satisfy anyone, even without dietary restrictions. There is no doubt that I would buy this again and many times over.
